As a Christian it is hard 2 control my feelings about ossaa and I am a current graduated from shs and I was a cheer leader and in the drill team and went 2 summer camp and I did not pay 4, it what gives ossaa the right 2 say that a booster club can not raise money 2 pay 4 any kind of camp cause not all families can afford 2 send their kids 2 camp and I think that the ossaa is prejudice against the Indian people and it has been going on since ancestors was ran off their land and one day their time will come on judgment dayandand

Our boys may not play in the championship game but we know who is the champs in our heart and we are so proud of our Indian boys and they have always play with good sportman ships and we will continue 2 b there 4 all our Indian kids and I pray that god will bless each one of those boys that was hurt by ossaa we will always stand proud 2 b a native American Indian

Schools and booster clubs can pay for team camps but not individual camps. If Seqouyah doesn't want to abide by the OSSAA rules then they need to think about leaving the association.

I'm sorry you feel this way and it is in no way the kids fault. The administration and coaches are the ones at fault. They knew the rules and choose to do the wrong thing. Hopefully things from now on will be done the honest way and no more trouble will come upon the kids.

Ok ybf you need to consider each grade has 35-50 students individual camps that are have 7 or more students from the school are considered a team camp somehow the ossaa forgot to apply this rule if you have read this particular situation 11 of 12 of these boys are seniors it's not like a lot of schools that may have 20 seniors on a team quit judging and look at the whole picture as I studied this I realized that a combine is considered an individual camp even if all 11seniors attended the damn thing. Go figure quit being so hated. And ybf I seriously doubt you are a coach at sequoyah so please don't apologize!

Wow. If "lady indian" is an example of the sort of education received by recent graduates of Sequoyah, the school should seriously consider shutting down their athletic programs altogether. There is no way she should have received passing grades with grammar like hers, but she must have been passing all her classes or she wouldn't have been allowed to cheer. That's an atrocity. The school is failing to educate the kids, and all anyone cares about is sports.

There isn't an argument, I'm only pointing out the ossaa rule on individual camps it states if 7 or more players attend an individual camps it is considered a team camp. When I asked the ossaa board what exactly this means, she said we realize some schools varies in size when you take a 6a school compare to a 3a you would have to take in consideration that 7 or more could very well mean a large portion of the team went

It says that if 7 or more members of the same school team participate that it is then counted toward the total limit of two team camps. Not that if 7 or more participate that it is considered a team camp.

It is refering to how it would be counted toward the two limit team camps. If 6 or less team members attended a team camp then it may not count against the two camp limit. It is NOT refering to individual camps.

Ndn- up until auguast 2011 a student could receive a waiver etc., based on financial need. After this change the financial need could not be applied to individual camps unless 7 or more attended. I know this because I've been fighting with the ossaa over these issues regarding my daughter, I read in the Cherokee Phoenix (I think that's where) that only 1 player would be in violation then. However the attny for OSSAA said no one from the school ever spoke up over this during the investigation. What I meant by only one player in violation is the other 11 boys did not attend over the limit of 2 camps. It really doesn't matter what the rules are, they have policies, rules, more rules, so on then they change the rules, to say something to the effect that they aren't too different from last set of rules. The last thing is you will not beat the ossaa. I agree with rules but if the rule is the rule, then they should be as forgiving as theybwasbin the Metro Christian case in Feb. 2012, the Tulsa Central kid, and Jenks situation. I do wish the ossaa would have to go under the Board of Education, because their power trips are a little out of line at times. I have watched the sequoyah football team play 3-4 games the last couple of years, they are a solid team and strong. I hate it for the kids. I just wonder how the Gandra kid lives in Muskogee and plays for Ft. Gibson .

If you go to the OSSAA web site you can download the rules and policies and read everything for yourself. NO school, booster club, business or individual other than the student's parent/guardian can pay for individual camps. That rule/policy has been in effect of many years.

I think you are confused. No matter how you spin it, you cannot call an Individual Camp a Team Camp just because several kids from the same school attended it.
