Terry's been writing about the lake since I moved up here in 1987, Donnie Boy, and he's forgot more about Clear Lake than you'll ever know. I don't know what business you own or what business your family owns or your friends, but if this mussel makes it here, kiss your sweet Donnie Boy buttocks goodbye. Regulate Mr. Knight? Who the hell are you. Regulate yourself. And Donnie Boy, it's CLEAR LAKE, as in two words, not Clearlake. If you can't get this right, why should I give a hoot about anything else you write. Well, I don't anyway.

it is a fact that billions of dollars have been spent here in America fighting the the quagga, and it is a fact that in many of the lakes it's infested the basic biology of the the lake has dramaticly changed-it's likey that the bass fishery here would be devestated.
Yeah, the water would be cleaner, but then the weeds grow, that's just the way shallow, warm water muddy-bottom lakes are.
Unless you have a few extra million dollars needed to retrofit every one of the dozens of water intakes in the lake and maintain them frequently FOREVER plus haul-out every boat and scrap and inspect it SEVERAL times a year then maybe more thinking and less writing would be in order.

Don's information from Indiana was, to say the least, inaccurate. To say the most, it was a bald-face lie. Terry isn't trying to hurt businesses or real estate values, he's trying to save them. This mussel is a menace everywhere it's been found. It's not manageable, not in Indiana, not in California. If it reaches Clear Lake, you won't have a business and you want have a lake.
