Ok maybe it would have helped if she could swim but this is a step in the right direction. At least someone was watching the children.

So sad but like spare change said at least someone was watching the children. She should be remembered as a Hero. Whether she was illegal or not she still died saving someone elses life. and that alone deserves some respect.

Everyone who commented on her legal status is a coward and has likely done nothing to be proud of their entire life. She is a hero ... please move out of my country. I'd switch you for a hard working illegal any day.

It must be real nice to have a live-in-nanny.

Forget whether she was legal or not - the nanny's family is being hurt further because the mother is fighting the nanny's workers' compensation case.

Real Classy, huh?

Recently, another nanny and one of the kids she was watching drowned in a backyard pool on Long Island!!! Here's a simple rule: If the parents hire a nanny and you have a backyard swimming pool, make sure that THE NANNY KNOWS HOW TO SWIM!!!

You're right. Nannies should be made to take the American Red Cross lifeguard training course to take a job involving a backyard swimming pool!
