Mobile home park residents protest eviction

What kind of indifferent state government allows people's homes to be stolen by greedy developers who buy mobile home parks and mass evict the home owners to build unaffordable housing. When will america's legislatures and judges act to protect the property rights of mobile home owners?

1 She said the developers "bought an occupied property. How is that humane? How is that moral?" Not until the Sheriff's deputies physically remove you Marcy. It's humane and moral for people to buy land/buldings and it happens all the time. It is immoral to occupy someone else's land and interfere with their use of it. I bet Marcy wouldn't like it if someone stayed in her trailer after being told to leave. "This home has found me an affordable way to make ends meet," said a teary-eyed Ginger Bonner, 50, a 10-year mobile home resident. "I'm struggling, my heart is struggling. I want to be here forever." Dry your eyes Ginger. You won't be there forever and my advice is to start packing and buy the land next time. Someone with a truck is going to be making a few extra bucks hauling those trailers off the land. Judge Phelan ruled on this case on 3/20/08 and they have 90 days to move after a judgement of eviction so it won't be long now. People, you should have bought the land. |

Thanks for the link, I think. I’ve usually got a good eye for things, but I don’t know if that’s a woman (using the term lightly) or a guy in drag. What I really don’t understand is if they’re so poor and can‘t afford anything else, how can they afford all those Harley’s? I’ve got the bug again and have been pricing them. Anything I like falls into the $17K -$30K range. I suppose if I was going to lose the house and go hungry I’d have to rethink this. What gives with these people? Slappy, please refrain from sending me any more scary pictures of he-shes in the future. |

Sorry, I knew it would be traumatizing, but I had to let you know exactly what we're dealing with here. In the future, I'll warn you. |

Dear Slappy and DR, sorry for the interruption, but you guys seem to be good at this posting biz. Is it me, or can't we post on just about every story in Newsragday. Any help would be appreciated.

Some stories they won't let you post on, because the liberal crybabies get upset. If it involves a person of color, you can pretty much figure posting is out of the question. |

Thanks, I figured that. Thebastards.

Besides what Slappy has told you, when you are in the Topix/Newsday forum there are three options to starting a forum on a story. First is to look at multiple postings of the same article. You might get lucky. Second is to copy the headline and do a topix search of the Newsday article. Sometimes Newsday doesn't provide the link. The third option (which I've done) is when in the newsday forum to click on "Start a discussion" to the right of the page and paste in the headline. Good luck. |

Sorry so long to respond - thanks so much - jeez, they made it so friggin' difficult. Used to be a post on every story - not much fun anymore. Was fun talking about race, how crummy the town where the story was about, etc., etc., etc. Thanks for the info - I just figured I was dinosaurish.

Nobody is stealing their trailers and mobile home owners have no property rights unless they bought the land that the trailer sits on. |

a Are you from this planet or what ? First of all you should learn how to spell before you try to make any comments at all. I would like to see how cruel and inhuame individuals live. How do they treat their mothers ? |

The way these people are fighting I pray for them all of the time.. They will win this Park because God is on their side and they know it.. I spoke to some of them during their demonstration. These are very SPIRITUAL people so These developers should mind them because prayer is full of power and I know for a fact they have many churches praying for them.Who do you know has lift hands to God and won ? H.O.P.E members keep up the great work .. Don't know what your doing but keep it up. God Bless each and every one of you . |

I wonder where these people get their moxie? This has been going on for over a year, the new owners have said they would like to develope the property and the trailer residents want to stay! You can't have your cake and eat it too! These people have leased the ground under their trailers, they don't pay taxes for the land , the owners do! Just get the fuckout and take your trailers with you! They were offered a deal that was advantagous to them, their rent was upped to cover the cost of maintainance and they rejected it! The marshalls will have a field day when the evictions start!

I guess you missed the part where Judge Phelan ruled on the issue. It was index number 021154/07 on March 20, 2008 in Trial/IAS Part 5 of Nassau County Supreme Court. It’s a done deal and they have to go. They are given 90 days after notice of eviction, but I think he is allowing another thirty days because he felt bad for them. |
