Veterans' tax exemptions have LI school boards struggling

John Barry Scheu of Levittown, who was in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1968, lobbied for the veterans school tax exemption, which the Levittown school board unanimously voted to support.
Let me first say I would likely vote yes for the Veterans Exemption.
However, why did the BOE approve it? Why struggle, just put it on the ballot and let the taxpayer decide.
