an american general recently accused iran of interfering in iraq. if it's true, iran has far more reason to interfere in iraq than the united states does to intefere in iran. iraq is just next door to iraq and iran and iraq share important ties. president obama says the program he is resuming that started under the bush administration to aid iranian dissident groups is ''not interfering in iranian affairs at all.'' actually obama is repeating a failed policy to ''promote democracy and the rule of law'' in iran. it is none of our buisness what should be going on in iran. the united states has a bad habit of meddling in other countries affairs. most of the C.I.A.'s clownish, inept attempts at ''regime change'' fail miserably and don't acheive their end goals. that's because the goverments we're trying to overthrow are not stupid. they know what we're trying to do. the C.I.A. has had all kinds of crazy schemes to overthrow the castro regime in cuba, but of course castro stayed until he left on his own terms, and really still controls the island. the united states has tried to overthrow the twice-democratically elected goverment in venenzuala but failed. now the venezualan people have twice elected hugo chavez to office. he is not a dictator as american goverment propaganda says. chavez even started a program to give poor americans heating oil. hardly a fire-breathing anti-american. he is opposed to u.s meddleing in venezualan affairs. our goverment's problem is that when there is a goverment in a certain country they don't like, they think they have the right to overthrow that goverment, covertly, through propaganda, proxies or funds, or overtly, as in the case of iraq. our meddeling and interfering in other nations affairs causes a lot of hatred and is a cause of a lot of the terrorism directed at us. our goverment and americans in general are often ignorant of these countries. it is stupid for those who call on obama to speak out insupport for the iranian demonstrators. the united states is hated in iran for diposing their democratically elected goverment [because he nationilized iran's oil fields] for the shah and also for helping iraq in the 1980-88 iran-iraq war. we ignored the use of chemical weapons by saddam hussein against iranians, something many iraians have never forgotten. we are in no position to determine anyone's fate. two of our three car companies have filed for bankruptcy. many of our cities and states are running out of money. unemployment is rising. our largest state is about to go broke. we should stop interfering in other countries affairs and get our own house in order.
