south carolina governor mark sanford is the latest moralizing politician to be caught in an indiscretion. last week it was nevada senator john ensign. it makes one cynical. congress is full of theives, crooks, liars, adulterers, and sexual deviants. often the ones moralizing turn out to be the biggest hypocrites. i shouldn't generalize. there are plenty of upstanding folks in congress. the republican party continues to shoot it self in the foot. if sanford had any decency he would resign, but most polticians don't do that. they selfishly cling on to power. he lied to his family, staff and state. needless to say, his political career is over. of course the major benifecarary of the scandal will be haley barbour. there is already talk of barbour being a contender for the republican nomination in 2012. haley is out of state when the state is facing a budget crisis. president barack obama has nothing to worry about at this point. the republicans don't have anyone who could beat him at this point, but three-and -a half years is a long time and in politics you never know what could happen. we should really just give up on politicians. the very fact that they are politicians means they are ambitious. all most politicians care about is staying in office. sanford should resign but it's over for him anyway.
