MLK park was working with no liability insurance. Financially the city had to merge the 2 parks in order to be able to keep them going. Also it makes more sense for the boys to play together not seperate as when they get up to middle and high school level they will be playing together but have not had the comaraderie (*sp?); Hoover is more competitive for this reason as they play altogether from elementary up. Merged to the park off of Brooklane as it was the larger park with large enough facilities to accomodate everyone.

The parks should not be merged because those kids and parents at BUD NEWELL Park are rude and disrespectful. Our team from Cotondale, AL we subjected to all kinds of racila slurs Saturday night and no kid should have to go through that. I was so shocked to my son go through such negative and derogatory comments towards him and his teammates.

Didn't the Jim Crow laws go away a long while back? There shouldn't be a white or a black label on PUBLIC places anymore. That's equal isn't it?
