Why would anybody vote for this guy for Sheriff in Jackson County. This guy seems to be cut out of the same cloth as Bobby Medford from Buncombe County (now in Federal Prison). I suspect that if Jackson County was the size of Buncombe County, this guy would be in Federal Prison as well.
I don't think people in Jackson County are safe wiht this guy in the Sheriff's office.

Alot of folks like or dislike Ashe but I'm not sure of the reasons. Do you know more than you mentioned here?

Wow, you are way behind. This is old news. Sheriff Ashe donated money to the youth of our county hoping to help keep them off drugs. He did NOT blow the money at the casino and try to lie and intimidate his way out of it like Bobby Medford. There is a huge difference in the two. Bobby Medford is a crook who belongs in prison. Sheriff Ashe is a good man who is trying to help keep our kids off drugs and will probably spend the next four years doing just that.

You're absolutely right! I think it's funny how certain people try to justify what Jimmy's done by saying "it's for the kids." Doing for the kids would be setting an example of honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness. It's as if there are "degrees" of corruption, and if the end justifies the means, the corruption is okay. There is NO EXCUSE for the things Jimmy has done. You can definitely blame some of it on stupidity, but the bottom line is that he's unethical and dishonest.

I have been asking those questions for weeks now. He was not charged or even reprimanded by the state. Finance officer Darlene Fox said fund requests by the sheriff would still be granted. The checks now require two signatures and there have been no complaints since. Had he misappropriated funds, there are criminal charges that can be filed. He spent taxpayer money on taxpayers instead of himself or his office.

And, it is not simply "for the kids". Had he spent the money on the elderly, homeless and hungry people in the county I would feel the same. I feel he should be commended for doing what he did and if the state statute regarding the funds states otherwise, it should be changed.

so I guess he should have used the money to buy more machine guns.

no one would have had a problem with that.

how many of the folks that have a problem with Ashe are planning on running for Sheriff?

looks like it would be a good chance to lead from the front instead of whining.

As the news story said, "Federal law prohibits LEOs from using seized property for personal reasons." Wow, you really blindly support LEOs.

And tasers....

My personal dealings with Sheriff Ashe have been pleasant and professional. I trust him and believe if the drug money was spent incorrectly, it was not intentional.

There won't be a investigation because the DA has refused to look at it as a case. They will wait until he's no longer sheriff.

Federal law enforcement may have bigger fish to fry as far as Jimmy's concerned.

What will be the charges? Mr. Bonfoey is a good DA, if he thought there was a case against Sheriff Ashe he would pursue it regardless of the politics involved.

Did the uniforms that Jimmy donated to the sports teams have anything on them with Sheriff Jimmy Ashe's name? Did they have anything on them that said Jackson County?
