Sylva man charged with killing bear near his home
#1 Jun 10, 2011
You rule John! It is sad when they deem a bear's life more important a family's safety. If a bear trots his butt in my yard and scares my family, there will be to men charged. FREE JOHN!

You would shoot the bear simply for being in your yard? Why? If the bear isn't making aggressive actions towards your family or pets then, why should the bear be killed? Unless there's more information that hasn't been released, it seems that this bear was just passing through and looking for food...hence messing with feed bags etc. The bear was scared and in a tree when it was shot!

He should have killed it and gotten rid of it. I'd have killed it too.

I have had bears in my yard several times that got agressive and broke into the house for food. The yget bold when they find a food source. The rule is a fed bear is a dead bear! This man has small children and he did the right thing. I would take a ticket any day for shooting a bear instead of burying my child.
