I am the girlfriend of the driver(owned by his employer) of the 2006 Chevy pickup stolen sometime late Friday night early Saturday morning. We call police shortly after 6 am when they arrived (after 7)it was more like we were being accused of lying and that the truck was wrecked somewhere(under the influence of alcohol) We told police that we were not lying and that they should be concerned about the weapons in the truck(my boyfriend was going hunting Sat. morning and was planning to go target shooting after)We also told Sykesville police officer Kurtz that we suspected Brian(we tried to help Brian we knew he had problems, we let him stay at our home overnight a couple of times, at about that time my boyfriends truck keys came up missing didn't know Brian had taken them) later called them and spoke to Sgt. Kilgore and gave in Brian's address. No one BELIEVED us or cared about the missing truck. If they would have taken this seriously MAYBE the truck and guns would have been recovered before their crime spree started. Finally after the robberies Saturday night another policeman (Vandyke) started to work the case. He called Sunday morning and His own words were "I can't believe nobody worked this with guns being involved" We received copy of police report today and was amazed in the way that it was written, like pictures were taken of the fact that there was no broken glass and that there was no tire marks left. They even went to our neighbor and asked them "DOES HE DRINK?" And even called my boyfriends boss the owner of the vehicle and said that his story wasn't making any sense. I can't believe we were the VICTIMS and we were treated as CRIMINALS by Sykesville's FINEST. WHY? We had even been told by a lawman in other area that Sykesville police station gets the reject cops no one wants. Seems to be true.

Wow, I think it's crazy that the police department didn't do more when it came to a report of guns being stolen. All this could have been avoided if they would have paid more attention. As for "Jamie123" you are so rude to have posted something about "SJS7572." She is a very good friend of mine and your accusations are totally wrong. The next time you try to make a bogus post don't forget to use spell-check! I am just glad these two brothers are finally behind bars, I feel bad for anyone that came in contact with them on their robbing spree…

Sorry to hear of that incident. I deal with Law enforcement and can tell you its nothing like wht u see on NY undercover or Miami Vice. The truth that most citizenry are unaware is that for statistics sake, cops are discouraged from reporting crime. Looks better for dept, team, boss and agency if not the city/county. Unfortunately this leads to cases like yours where incidents are 'orphaned'.I was once present at a similar case where a neighbor volunteered to stay and give info. Man, the poor guy was put through a barrage of 'suggestive' questions, till in exasperation, the guy raised his arms in despair and yelled at the officer of his innocence and to quit 'implicating' him. It was a bad exchange and an eye-opener to the guy of how these things really work.
Unfortunatley you have to call not just their head but threaten to file a complaint before they take you seriously in many cases.Only then is when they will do the due diligence. I recall the first time it happened to me over 5 years ago, was stunned I was hearing such casual words from a cop on duty. He sarcastically-jokingly said ' Do you want me to go and shoot suspect xyz into submission'. That tone changed after I called the police head and we moved forward fast after that. Most are good but then again many arent...that just reality. No T.V shows or any mainsteam movies show that aspect so many are shocked when they first encounter it
