Candace Stegall - It is not hard to use the cdib card. All you have to do if you want to go to the doctor is go to an Indian clinic or hospital and take your card. The people there will make a file for you and get you into see a doctor. There is an Indian hospital at Claramore and Tahlequah and there are some clinics around. I don't know of any in Tulsa area except at Claramore. I hope this helps you.

My Mother has a CDIB card. I took the last name of my Step Father, without legal adoption. I have the hospital copy of my birth certificate, but no other papers with my birth name to prove I am that person. I know who my Dawes Role Ancestors were. How do I proceed to acquire a CDIB card ? I live in California.

My entire life I was raised in my mothers Jewish/German culture; however, I've always been interested in the Cherokee side of my father (I'm 1/32nd I believe). My grandfather is up-there in age and hasn't been able to help me as much as I would have hoped. I'm not sure what to do about finding what tribe his family is from or if they're even on the Dawes Roll. All I have is a few memories of gathrerings when I was a child, their names, and that they lived in the Appalachian mountains for a good while. I'm at a loss. What should I do?

Be prepared to show state birth & death certificates too. There is a government site you can view to see if any of your kin are on the original Dawes rolls. My mothers family already had their cards, but I still had to go through the entire family history to proof our link. If you have all your information when you send in your paperwork (application), it doesn't take them to long to get your CDIB & voter card to you. Since I live in Texas, I don't use any benefits. But I still vote!:o)

Apply for the death certificate through the state he was born in. You will need birth & death certificates. Get dates, county, any information on him. You can download the information & application online.

My boyfriends grandfather was cherokee indian, and I found his grandfather or his fathers, name on the dawes final rolls but unforunately my boyfriend does not have his grandfathers birth or death certificate. Is there any possible way to get around that? My boyfriend also shares the exact same legal name as his grandfather I thought that might help his case alittle. Anyone know?

My grandfather is Cherokee Indian from MO and OK. He is on the Dawes roll. I have submitted 8 nieces and nephrews applications in February, 2009. I have not heard back from them at all. But on this blog I find information how to get the CDIB card. Is there a way to get this information to see if they are going to be eligible for the CDIB card?

Shreegreer

it may take along time accout ofthe Cherokee Freedmen case, that has slowed down applications.
Yes call the BIA office, many people have CDIB cards ,that don't belong to a tribe.

Susan you need to go on line at the Cherokee nation web site and someone can help you their ,or call one of the council people.

I have noticed that alot of the talk about people getting or trying to obtain their CDIB card or proving blood DNA are all saying they are of Cherokee nation heritage. Is Cherokee a requirement or does it help being a Cherokee Indian to recieve your roll number. I was just curious cause I am not of Cherokee heritage and just hoping someone could shed light on this situation. Thank you for the time you had taken to read my post and best of all luck with all.

No the blood test would nt do a thing to help in this matter ,other then tell you you may be Native American , it can't even show which tribe D 7 A is not that good.
I sure if you dig, you may foind a paper trail.

Read this link completly. It has everything to help one find information.
I knew I had first cousins with CDIB cards but I still had to do the footwork. I worked my way through the Archives on the link above.

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Aquarius

You get the chance to prove how romantic you can be when the mood is right. Why not arrange a candlelit encounter with that very special person in your life. There's a strong possibility that you could become involved in a relationship that has to be conducted in secret or which you want to keep strictly private.
