I agree with Cops Wife.

I also extend these to the child and his loved ones. What a horrible thing for a child to endure! I hope he gets counseling.

I believe it's also horriblle for the officers and their families.

Not faulting the police, they're between a rock & hard place. But, another long, very risky (to general public) chase through alot of towns. They need to minimize the risk, take out the driver somehow & risk the 10 yr old as collateral damage instead of the many more innocents along the way. Hope the cops are OK.

It is an awful thing. What is the matter with these people (sorry, but from what you read it seems to be mostly men) use their children as pawns like this. Truly sad, hope the other officer is okay. Condolences to all involved.

How fast we jump to conclusions. From the little bit of information it seems the man,(being the father), had a protection order against him. A very easy thing to get accomplished in our current just-us system,(and often the route divorce lawyers tell woman to take in order to gain full custody -- whether there was any actual abuse OR NOT).

Educate yourself. This is what happens constantly to fathers when a woman is scorned and judges often side with whoever makes the abuse claim first. Without the ability to petition the government for a redress of grievances, what is a father suppose to do? Cops in Chicago might stage the death of a wife (or TWO), but a father who is a non-"only ones" is left to do what exactly???

If -- IF -- that was the case, you gotta start asking yourself which side of this battle you want to be on?

What a shame. I feel sorry for the 10 year old to have to witness something like this.
