What "options" were offered? Seems to me all the sheriff said was that we have to have a new jail, he wants new offices, so shell out $11 mill. "Option" and "choice" didn't appear.

Wonder why all his deputies were there...was he afraid there would be a riot? How much overtime did that cost?

KNow what you mean...besides - the hearing was half about the courthouse and the trouble with it.

Why not just build a new jail and leave the offices in the courthouse?

seems reasonable 2 me...was told that the sheriff wants new offices - claims there isn't enough space on 2 floors of the courthouse for his offices.

Also says this will be $2 something a month / household. riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. More likely 6

He and the preceding sheriff have had this in their minds from day one. Check the last budget under Blackley vs the current budget. Ask your Commissioneer how much the budget has increased. We do not have to build a new jail. Renovate and expand the current one. Every deputy does not need an office.

The old courthouse was torn down partly because the jail was too small. now this one is falling apart and the sheriff want mega money for neat offices and a jail. guess the the building collapses on everyone else, he'll have a place to sit and laugh!

Taylor county has a new jail...they also had ANOTHER inmate escape. Nolan County still has the old jail...no one has escaped in years. Why do they need / want a new jail...to aid in escapes???

last public hearing was held in S'wtr. Lots of people from who knows where, and a couple of locals. Still no mention that there could be a plan that costs less than $11 mill...

How much less is a jail without office space? Is the Sherrif just scared to come to work after the slab fell off the courthouse?
