Traffic is terrible for one thing, drive down highway 11 through the middle of town during a busy time and watch people waiting 20 minutes to pull out.

Other than that it is the same issues as any small local town.

This wtf guy has a vendetta against Sweetwater just look at other forums like the Walmart. Sweetwater's traffic is not bad other than when school gets out, and that last about a whole 45 mintues. Crime here is not bad at all. We are very fortunate to gave a great Police Department who does a lot of community policing. Our city schools were just awarded an excellence award for academics, google it if you think I'm lying. Property tax rate is very low compared to other city's. As far as the meth those statistics are based on the amount of labs seized by law enforcement, so if you want proactive law enforcement keeping you safe then there you go. County road 357 is in Mcminn county not in Monroe but is still in the Sweetwater area. Sweetwater is growing everyday but still feels like a very small town and will continue to do so. If you want to know more just ask. And as far as Mr. wtf ,he lives in Athens he has stated that on here before. So before he begins bashing my town you should google that city's crime rate and statistics.

Hi there!

My husband and I moved here last year from Knoxville, TN. My husband grew up in Sweetwater and we inherited a small farm here from his parents. We could have sold the farm and pocketed the money but no, we wanted to move back to Sweetwater! We could live a lot of places but we always knew we would end up right here. The previous poster "Waaaaa" was correct on all points. Sweetwater is a great little place to live and raise your kids. Just wondering where you are moving from? It would be great if you could spend a few days here in Sweetwater and get the feel of the area. I think you would really like it! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

You do not want to live in Monore County. Drugs, pills, killings and Sweetwater is full of a bunch of trashy morons who think all they have to do is set around and darw a check. Redneck is a nice word fo this bunch. Trailer tarsh is all that lives there.

Really? I mean...really? At least use proper English if you are going to insult my city. Validity is everything, and you my friend make absolutely no valid arguments.

Hi, just had to chime in here. I notice that you are from Oak Ridge? Well, I was born and raised in Oak Ridge! My mother still lives in Oak Ridge. There is plenty of drugs and crime right there in Oak Ridge. My mother actually has her home up for sale because her neighborhood is declining. No, I am not trying to insult the city of Oak Ridge. Just wanting to point out that drugs, crime, rednecks, etc. are everywhere. My husband and I know lots of good folks here in Sweetwater- that's why we wanted to move back. There are good and bad folks in every town.

Well I'll chime in here for Matt and Robin.
It's not so bad here. Lived here twice. This is currently my second stay here. I'm actually getting to know some locals this time around. I have to say it ain't so bad. There's not a whole lot to do though. That's the only drawback really. It had about the same variety of things to do as Oak Ridge does though when I really think about it (lived there as well) So you'll just have to take a drive to Knoxville or Chattanooga from time to time really. Good news is it opens up a larger variety with being closer to Chat. You'd kinda be in the halfway point between both of them.
