It's good to hear that pro and anti incorporation groups in Swannanoa have agreed on one thing - that the residents of that area should have the opportunity to vote on a referendum regarding that issue. The timing is perfect before the city of Asheville decides to annex the area in order to gain more revenue through property taxes which would eclipse Swannanoa property taxes. Look at Enka. The residents of that area decided not to incorporate many years ago. That opportunity was lost. Now the Biltmore Lake community is on the annexation block and has gone to court to try to stop it.

Either you incorporate or the Monster to your West will eat you and take away all your rights. Asheville is coming your direction, think about it!

And, they don't give you the chance to vote, they just take you!

You may think you are safe from being annexed by Asheville, but guess what. All they need is a sliver of land adjoining their land to start the annexation process. Did you not read in the Citizen-Times that Asheville recently declared a 60 square mile area around its borders as potential land to annex. They submitted this report to the State Legislature as they must do every two years. Isn't Swannanoa within that 60 mile swath? Think people! Don't be lulled by people within your midst who say, "it could never happen." Ever heard of the cat stalking a mouse and the poor mouse doesn't know it is there until it's too late, and the cat has pounced?

The only reason they want to be a town is so they can have liquor by the drink. Same thing for Leicester. We will have more drunks than ever on 70 and 40 if that happens. Those of us who live in Black Mountain should have a say because it will affect us.

That's ridiculous considering anyone would only have to drive 2 or 3 miles in either direction to get liquor by the drink. Get real.

Swannanoa citizens have shown a lot of class on this issue. I would support David Alexander or Frank Blankinship for Swannanoa's first Mayor.

That is not true. Swannanoa can not be annexed at this time. You are misinformed.

Let me just say that Dave Alexander as the mayor of Swannanoa makes me sick to my stomach. I caught him red handed stealing my NO Incorporation sign right out of my front yard. Then he illegally attached a Vote for Incorporation sign to the utility pole at the corner of my lot. If he is willing to do sneaky things like that when he thinks that someone isn't home. What will he do as mayor when Swannanoa residents are not paying attention.

If you don't believe it, then check the public records at the Buncombe County Sheriff's Dept. Report# 2009-007258

The main thing now is for folks to get out on Nov. 3rd and vote! If everyone just sits back and thinks this is not going to go through, think again. We must vote to stop our peacefully valley from being turned into a goverment run town. Please vote NO on Nov. 3rd!!!
