'Horse tripping' video fuels debate over Oregon rodeo event
A bill to ban "horse tripping" in Oregon went nowhere last year after rodeo advocates convinced lawmakers that the practice doesn't happen at the state's big competitions.

Be assured that now, after having just been made aware of this horrific, cruel "sport" that I will do everything in my power to effect a complete ban, and further will work to publicly expose the monsters that condone it. Their lame excuses and reasons for continuing this abomination are blatantly ridiculous, and are obviously practiced because these people lack any horsemanship skills. My grandfather, a Wyoming rancher, bred, raised, and trained quarter horses all of his life, and never, ever resorted to this kind of treatment of horses.

For a State and City who, on it's website has The Home of The Mustang it's a damn disgrace that you allow these cowboys to do this!!! It is pure and simple CRUEL. No if's and buts, or excuses that 'it doesn't happen in real rodeo's or 'it happens in remote areas'.
For god sake just ban it. I don't care what it's called, roping or tripping, it's unbelievably cruel. What or who gives these so called ranch people the damn right to treat animals this way. I don't believe for one second that they care about animals in any way.
These people are a disgrace and puts the state of Oregon in the eyes of the rest of the world in the 'backward' category.
People that live so archaicly, and cannot bring themselves into the 21st century need a good shaking!

Hate to break it to you but Oregon is a deeply southern state that just happens to be located on the West Coast of the US. It does not share the West Coast mentality so none of this is that surprising. Oregon IS backwards and, in many areas, rather proud of living in the past...forever.
There is a comedy forum that states that Portland is the Most Racist City in the USA that is supposed to be a parody but really is not. That is reality. This is horrific.

How does some dumb cowboys tripping horses, equal racism?
Apparently you don't have black, or Hispanic friends and haven't been able to see the way their animals are treated.
Let's not forget about our dog eating friends, or our native Americans.
Sorry for my racist comments, but minorities tend to think differently of their pets, than whitey does.
