I think its both the parents AND the childs fault. Parents should keep weapons under better lock and key, or other wise completely hidden. But at 12, the boy is old enough to know right from wrong-- assuming the parents taught that lesson.

Irrespective of the fact that the killer is a year or so younger than the age suggested for trying him as an adult, the magnitude of the crime dictates that he be so tried. If convicted, he must be punished in accordance with the laws of the State of New York. Mercy is not a concept implicated in a crime so brutal.

This happened in New York. But you are right. Parents just need to spend more quality time with their kids. If these boys were home schooled why were they alone? It isnt as though they were latch key kids like so many are.

None of you even know this family, they were Christians that thought they had taught their children correctly. The boys were taught to respect guns and handle them properly. the parents made the mistake of thinking that the lessons were learned. We all make mistakes raising children is never an easy job. show a little compasion and respect. This family deserves it they did what they thought was the right thing. This could have happened to any family so take care of your own family make sure that all guns are secure. Hope and pray that you have done the best you can with your own children.

So sad. They will now loose both of their kids. Unfortunately it is the fault of an adult every time a child has access to and uses a gun like this.

It should be assumed and expected that kids will make poor decisions in this regard. After all, they are children.

What a loss.

As a child I grew up with this family. This boys grandparents were like Aunt and Uncle to me. They are wonderful people. It is easy to point fingers at the mistakes of others...I will agree that the gun being unlocked is careless. It is also a mistake that anyone can make. I think that people need to realize that this, or another tragedy can happen to ANYONE....So, instead of throwing stones at a grieving family. Choose to love and pray for them regardless of their imperfections....after all, THAT is the grace that God has given to you!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Capricorn

You're in the mood to spend some money today. That's fine if you've got it, because you'll have a wonderful time strolling around the shops. But it isn't such good news if you're supposed to be sticking to a strict budget because that will be well nigh impossible once you've seen something that catches your eye. It will keep saying 'Buy me, buy me!'
