I am the sister in law to Jonathan. Most of what you all have said was true except both topped the same hill at the same point. Please have respect for our family during this time if you want to know anything else contact one of the family. Remember he put his life on the line for so many and he has a family who loves him along with a wife, children, mother and brothers who are beside themselves right now.

Bulls Gap man dies in head-on ATV accident

Posted on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:44 am

A head-on collision involving two all terrain vehicles on Saturday night resulted in the death of one rider. Jonathan M. Young, 29, of 129 York St. in Bulls Gap died when the ATV he was driving hit head-on with the ATV of Franklin Thomas Ray, 39, of Mohawk.

The incident occurred in a cornfield on Ralph Ray Road in Hamblen County. The two were driving the vehicles after having a bonfire, both having consumed two or three beers, according to the report.

Sheriff Esco Jarnagin said the two were driving in very dense fog and slick conditions.

According to reports, both were coming off of hills and did not see the other approaching, causing the head on collision.

Jarnigan said both men tried to adjust from hitting the other but they both corrected in the same direction. Jarnigan called it a “terrible tragic accident.”

Thank you Kara for explaining. And as Kara said please have some respect. He was not flying, and he did not get hit by a car. He and another 4 wheeler hit head on, It was foggy and they both corrected the sameway. I was there, and saw it all. If you have any questions i do not care to share with you, but as kara said please contact one of us and we will tell you anything you want to know. And who ever started this topic...his name is spelled Jonathan.. (that always drove him nuts)
