It will not be easy to get rid of it.

The main point is - under this law, insurance CANNOT deny you coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Think long and hard before you repeal it. With premiums going up, your employer may want to get rid of you if you (your family have medical conditions). Where will you go??????????

Keep in mind, they want to get rid of Medicaid and Medicare.

With the law, they cannot do this to you.

Before this law, if you received treatment, it was deemed a pre-existing condition and you would have to go ?? months without treatment before they would cover the treatment if you required it in the future. Keep in mind they could deny coverage for symtoms that would be associated (or not) to the pre-existing condition. You would be paying full premium for partial coverage. READ YOU BENEFIT BOOKS CAREFULLY!!!!

YOU WILL CARE WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOU!!!!

Reported on the evening news about a month ago.

A women with health issues, forced to retire in early sixties, was having to pay around $1600/mth for health insurance.

In order to cover this prem., she was dipping into her retirement. Fearful that too much of her retirement was being used on prem., she opted to go without coverage for six months so she would be accepted on an affordable plan. Because of the law, she will NOT be denied/restricted coverage due to her pre-existing coverage.

SHE NEVER THOUGHT THAT THAT SHE WOULD BE IN THIS POSITION, BUT HAPPY ABOUT THE NEW LAW - IT WAS HER SAFETY NET.

Something to ponder!

A woman, in her early sixties, was forced to retire due to illness was paying around $1600/mth. for health ins. Was using her retirement to pay premium each month.

Due to the new law, if she dropped her current plan, in six months, she would quality for new affordable coverage (would NOT be denied for pre-existing condition). A chance she had to take. This would be the bridge to Medicare.

Without the new law, she would probably use up money put aside for retirement. Without Healthcare Reform, she would have been 100% on her own.

Could this happen to you?

If you have assets and money in the bank, you will have to depleat all valuables before you qualify to help. That is if help will still be there.

A priority in this life is healthcare - not health insurance companies.

We need to socialize medicine (like all other industrialized countries) so all people pay their share of cost and have coverage.(Medicare/SS taxes need to go up to sure up these programs.) this is NOT a luxury.

Today, it seems like a good portion of premiums go to exec salaries, bonuses, commissions, perks, stock options and legal fees not be pay claims. Is this what you want to be fighting in your retirement?

All these repeal votes are from people over 55. Guess what, they have lied in the past. Medicare could be changed as soon as 2013 under Repubs. Do you want to gamble on that?

Obamacare will not increase premiums, but a repeal WILL.
Healthcare prem/costs increase every year in the double digits. Small businesses cannot keep up with this.(Too much profits built in without enough volume discounts).

Wake up, Repubs are talking death panels now. If Medicare is turned over to For Profit, do you think you will beable to afford the premiums (without a HUGE co-pay and deductible)? Keep in mind, there cannot be huge profits for the 1% if they pay claims for the 99%. A Repub candidate said this a.m. that someone in one state should beable to buy coverage in another state, I agree. That would be a NATIONAL PROGRAM.

Medicare needs to be expanded with new guidelines. Millions should NOT be spent to keep people alive with NO quality of life. After age 75, NO more expensive surgeries (pain management/hospice). People need to be held accountable for their lifestyles and medical professionals/facilities need to be audited on a regular basis to keep them honest.

People and employers need to pay a higher % to sure up Medicare and Social Security. If you can spend all that money on electronic toys, you should beable to sure up Medicare/SS.

If you are in a good place today, I am happy for you, but keep in mind "That can change in an instant". If you don't care about others, no one will care about you!!!!

The right still clings to fantasy about health care

Interesting article about covering/not covering breast cancer meds.

How long before only the 1% will beable to afford quality healthcare?

Someone made a comment a while back about rich people from other countries coming here for medical treatment. That says it all!

Everyone keeps saying they are tired of "welfare". People need to pay their own way.

Obamacare will cause everyone to get health insurance coverage. Everyone, one day or another, will need healthcare services.

If the law stands and everyone gets coverage, premiums should go down (that's if "free enterprise" works as everyone claims it should). I still think corporations don't want the law to pass because it would mean the US would be one step closer to expanding Medicare (taking it out of For Profit greedy hands). Isn't it about time
we have have the healthcare coverage that follows the individual from birth to grave, rather than the uncertainty of job to job???? We would be counting on the community of taxpayers (no profit) and not big faceless corporations (huge profits).

Can you imagine the feeling you would have when you are faced with a cancer or heart disease diagnosis and you would NOT have to worry about losing your healthcare coverage. Ask the people currently on Medicare; they know.

This would be the answer to securing Medicare once and for all!

By the way, all working people pay into Medicare and SS. This is a good thing!

Sure, it would be a change for some people, but if it would mean affordable healthcare for all, it is worth it! As good Christians, we would not like to see our family, friends and neighbors suffer.

If Medicare was expanded and structured correctly, Gov't would not have to mandate "exercising". Cannot continue to pay endless healthcare bills for keeping people alive without a "quality of life" or pay for expensive procedures to extend their life because they did NOT take good care of their bodies. This is America, you have a right to choose what you want to do, but it should come with accountability.

Reality, there is NO good reason to repeal this law!

It seems to me, from watching the news, that the people saying to repeal the law have good jobs with benefits. What would happen to them if "Obamacares" is repealled and they lose their jobs; and they are a little older - with a pre-existing condition? I started to wonder if maybe these people are being paid to protest; they are getting a check ??? Presently, health insurance industry is more interested in collecting premiums than paying claims, fact! Top management earn extra for coming up with ways to do this. Other civilized countries have socialized medicine; although not perfect, works better than the US's current system.

Corporate America is calling the shots rather than the Gov't (you know "tapayers").

Healthcare and healthcare coverage trumps ALL. After high school graduation, ALL adults should start paying intothe healthcare system; more important than a video game and cell phone.

I still say "expand Medicare". Although it needs tweeking, it's the BEST plan out there! The 1% will have medical offices set up in their homes anyway. See, they are taking care of themselves, shouldn't you?

Scary news report (CBS) this a.m.

A woman, after having two hip replacement surgeries with the same product, learned that Dupuy (J & J) is recalling the product. It does not work correctly and the screws can break down and get into the blood stream to possibly cause cancer later on.

She learned that this product "HAD NOT" been thoroughly tested through clinical trials; she was one of the ginnie pigs (as well as a whole lot of other Americans).(I did not know this, if a new product is similar to another approved product, then it is grandfathered in.) It was also reported that a lot of replacement products HAVE NOT BEEN CLINICALLY TESTED before market. Scared yet?

Are you still willing to turn your healthcare over to Corporate Greedy America? Most people will say "Where was the Gov't?" Hasn't FDA's budget been cut back? Do you see a pattern here? FDA should be expanded and audited on a regular basis.

Mitt Romney was vague on Tuesday about how he would deal with people who have pre-existing conditions and are trying to get insurance, saying there should be rules to prevent companies from denying it to those who have held insurance before. He gave no answer on how to help those who have consistently been denied insurance.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/28/mitt...

Finally the truth: They really don't know how to fix the healthcare issues, just want to do away with "Obamacares". Are you willing to put your future in his hands?

It looks like the law maybe in trouble. Before you clap, think about what it will mean to you.

1. Kids turning 18 will pay for their own coverage (which I am in favor of)
2. Pre-existing conditions will not be covered for a period of time, if ever (this is what they are really after will getting rid of the law - cannot pay huge salaries/benefits/perks to top management and huge returns to stockholders if you are paying claims - you do realize they only want healthy people on their plans?)
3. No limits on premiums (like what Paul Ryan wants to do with Medicare, only the 1% will beable to afford health insurance (healthcare).

Think carefully, is healthcare really a LUXURY? The greedy think it should be.

It seems to me that Paul Ryan has NO problem cutting Medicare (healthcare), but is crying out loud about cutting defense spending (murder). It is kinda like being 100% against abortion and 100% in favor of war. Isn't he smart enough to realize that they both are MURDER?
Can you understand this man? Who is he supporting, the taxpayers or Global Corporations?

You pay premiums (always going up) for years. You get a heart disease or cancer diagnosis. Take time off to recover. Fight with insurance companies to get bills paid. Go back to work to find out the company is downsizing and you are being laid off. Apply for another job. Have to check the box regarding your diagnosis and hosptial stay. You will not be covered for one or two years with regards to that illness (all claims will be linked to that illness). Recurrence and cannot pay the bills. Lose my house. Have to file for bankruptcy. Then you finally make it to retirement age only to find out you cannot afford Medicare premiums (now in For Profit hands).

To think that the people on taxpayer paid health insurance (Congress and Supreme Court) said NO to covering PRE-EXISTING condiditions and require people to participate in a program all will need at one time or another!!!!

Wow, I could have had a V-8...All I had to do is stand up for what is right! What was I thinking???

Paul Ryan is telling anyone who will listen:
We, For Profit, can lower healthcare costs without Obamacare. He is saying that Obamacare will increase costs.

One question: WHY HAS FOR PROFIT NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOWER COSTS? They have had 30 years to do it. They have failed! Costs have been going up in double digits for years.

How stupid does he think the taxpayers are? Keep in mind, 75% of his premium is paid by taxpayers, some of whom CANNOT afford coverage for themselves and their families.

Seems to me like Paul Ryan is more concerned with the loss of PROFITS!!!! Healthcare is NOT a luxury item. SHOULD NOT HAVE HIGH WAGES/PROFITS ATTACHED TO IT!!! Time for TAXPAYERS TO TAKE CARE OF IT, EXPAND MEDICARE (coverage from birth to grave).
