1 Lujan's vote also promises higher energy bills for all of us through higher taxes on electricity, natural gas, gasoline, etc. In his reply to my letter castigating him for his vote, he promises that "consumer spending" on energy bills for all Americans would be about 7 percent lower by 2020, thanks to his vote. Anyone believe that? When was the last time the government imposed higher taxes and and greater restrictions that resulted in LOWERED costs on anything? In short, Mr. Lujan expects us to believe that the Federal Government is in reality Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy all rolled into one. Any jobs replaced by supposed "clean energy" would be a fraction of what we have now, and would be directly subsidized by the Federal Government through tax increases upon all of us. What happens when the government runs out of our money? They either ask for more, or the nation becomes the State of California, issuing I.O.U.'s to it's citizens, employees, and contractors. Ever try to cash an I.O.U. at the bank? Ever use an I.O.U. to buy groceries? Thankfully, though our Congressman voted against the interests of the people of New Mexico, we still have a chance to stop "Cap and Tax" in the Senate, where it faces a tougher challenge. Contact Senator Udall now and express your concern over what higher energy prices, and even further restriction of the Natural Gas industry, would do to the Four Corners area, New Mexico, and the nation as a whole. |

1 Remember the slogan "Cap-and-Trade will be a disaster" and spread it if you can. |

Regarding Natural Gas and C&T
Here is some salient info for this discussion I believe -Burning natural gas in power plants emits about half as much CO2 for the same amount of electricity output as burning coal does. -Cheap natural gas prices act as an incentive for Power Plants to switch from coal to NG -Prices for U.S. natural gas have fallen steadily from a peak over $13 per million British thermal units last July to under $4 per mmBtu as excess production, slumping demand and increased imports push storage fields to their limits -The C&T bill provides no NG regulations at the production end and does not penalize burning NG any more than any other CO2 emitter. -No new NG "taxes" in the C&T bill I think the biggest effect on Farmingtons NG economy is from cheap African imports and the recession, not "Richardson's regs". Which have been reduced of course. This bill my be good for Farmington. What say you and why? |

1 I would really like to see your source for this. Will you share it? |
here is one source: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/... There are many, but this is a start. |
Thank you for the reference. I didn't see any reference to the program being dismantled as you indicated. I did see where they are moving into phase 2 as planned. |
On page 3, it is indicated that there are members of the EU that are against continuing the cap and trade... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/11/business/wo... |

Naw, your the only kook here. I would be willing to bet that you think Cap and Trade is a great idea and will solve the problem. Then again thinking was never your strong suit. |
The article says Poland is against the 2012 plan, the next phase time line start- to further reduce emissions. I don't see this as the entire union "dismantling" cap and trade. Perhaps they will, but they will find another way of meeting their Kyoto agreement. As I'm sure you know, C&T isn't the only way to implement the reduction of CO2 emissions. My bet is, the EU will help Poland during this phase better prepare for the 2012 phase, but they'll stay with C&T. |
Without identifying "the problem" as you didn't, I think C&T is a"great idea" for facilitating the reduction of CO2 emissions- as well as other Green House gases- in the US. What's your "great idea" for reducing our CO2 emissions? |

Dixie, you don't belong in Farmington. You belong in Washington, D.C. Your common sense is sorely needed there. Please consider a run for US Congress. Oh, better yet, that might not be such a good idea. Posession of common sense is considered an act of sedition or maybe even treason by the muslims and their sympathizers there now. Oh hell, go for it. We need you and many others like you there. Obama & company is turning out to be a Pain in the tush.
a Pain in the tush is better than a Palin in the bush- Alaskan bush that is. Palin in 2012- she'll resign by 2014. |

cAP AND TRADE = TAX ON FUEL CONSUMERS!!! CCan't call it that the president said he would not raise taxes, have to call it by a special warm and fuzzy name. Said to cost the AVERAGE household a mere $0.48 per day. But rebated to the needy. So lets see by the time the needy get their break that means if you have a job you pay a $1.00/day now that is government estimates and we know how great they are with money. So let,s triple that so we get closer to the actual cost incured by to working people. Now we are talking $1095/year. Also kep in mind that these cost are for evry item also made or built by by a company that uses fuel. You didn't think that they would absorb the cost did you? Cosmetics, synthetics, plastics, rubber, asphalt, wood treatment, paints, and many other products made from hydrocarbons. Now to all other items you by. Do you know of any company that builds a product that does not use any fuel to run it's factories? So I say Cap and Trade is a tax on every item we use and consume on a daily basis. Poor folk you are gonnabe paying this tax on those items also. I'll bet it outweighs the rebate you get to heat your house. Also it will cost many jobs in this area. Our governor has already damaged the industry here enough. If you think that does not effect you look around at the economy compared to last year. Wake up people this is not a good thing. Call you senators and represenative. I know ersonaly that for now all you get back is a pat my back form letter. If enough letters keep coming they will have to listen.
