I live on the west side currently and I have had no problems whatsoever. It's close to the strip and the Palms for weekend fun and it's a nice and clean area to live in. Some of the better apartment areas on this side of town are on Tropicana, west of Decatur. The neighborhoods are well taken care of and close access to major stores such as Walmart and Best Buy come in handy, for sure.

VEGAS CAN BE A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE.(( but )) i would not recomend a place called " shelter island " the shelter island that we were staying was very bad. insted of regular wooden door's it had glass sliding doors. when we first moved thier we thought it would be ok. for more privacy we had taped tinting on the glass door. good thing because people always wanted to look in through the door, and also do drugs and make drug deals in frount of the door. we finaly put up a security camera at the door after kids lighting fires and tearing things apart. and they do however have a swimming pool. but use caution if you want to go swimming. the reson is because alot of the kids use the swimming pool as a bath tub in sted of useing thier own bath tub/ shower in thier unit. they also seem to love peeing in the pool witch what kid does'nt. i have seen kids with bars of soap and even seen shampoo bottles floating in the swimming pool. hmmm, make's me want to swim in that pool again! how ever where you want to live is all up to you and your family. but if you ever wounder about shelter island, they do have a pet deposet along with pet rent you have to pay each time that you pay your rent. but anyways hope you have good luck on finding a place that is good for you and your family and pet.

Vegas is a shithole. Worst unemployment rate in the country & the same basically holds true for the housing/foreclosure market.

Look at Phoenix or SoCal-at least they have a real economy that isn't based upon suckers coming to town & pissing their money away(which they aren't doing now or anywhere in the near future).

The town sucks, trust me

Wow, sounds like you should move....Vegas might just be a 1 year thing see what happens, then I thought maybe move to Cali or somewhere.
Has to be something good about Vegas otherwise so many people wouldn't live there and want to visit there.

People were flocking to Vegas when the property values were on the rise-now they are fleeing as fast as they can.

I don't have the vacancy numbers, but they are mindblowing. I would say 40-60% of the condos are empty-if not more. Houses aren't much better.

Well cupcake, thanks for the advice, my girlfriend is none of your business, and haven't lived at home since I was 17.:) >Anyone who would like to post comments with respect would be much appreciated!
A lot of people moved here during the boom times, thinking there was easy money and all kinds of fun to be had. They are either gone or wish they could leave. You need to have a very good reason to move here. The novelty of fun and party time wears off in a few days, then you are stuck. There are a lot of "Golden Anchors" around here. Those that can't afford to stay, but can't afford to leave.

As for your "girl". I asked because they tend to get pregnant. Then there is another mouth to feed, when you can barely feed your own. And, since you are not married, you have no real obligation to care for her/them.

Best wishes.

I may have been a little rough on the kid, but there are plenty of his kind around here. These are still "wild west" towns out here. Easy to get disillusioned and/or burned. He needs to grow up.

Take care in San Diego dude.

Lol.....Thx Sun up, That may be the best advice I have heard here so far. "Relax its an adventure" which is what I enjoy most in life.

If you're a typical Taurean you value both your emotional and physical security, and often tend to restrict your actions accordingly. But during the coming month you'll need to spread your wings more widely than usual, whether through mental or physical pursuits.
