Am moving to Sunnyvale within the next year. I would appreciate your advice.

Hi,
Call us crazy, but my husband and I are planning to move to Sunnyvale in the near future. He grew up his high school days there. We moved from Sacramento to the midwest 4 years ago and are homesick for California.

So the big question is...while he is looking at jobs, what household income is necessary to live in a very modest home. I told him I would live in a one bedroom apartment if it will make him happy. We have a daughter heading to college and a son that will be starting kindergarten next year. In the KC our household income is 130,000 (we both work) but I know my hubbie is very underpaid right now.
Thanks for your help.

You can get a 1 bedroom apartment for 1000-1500 month. Move on back and you will eventually be able to buy a house, but be patient.

I moved back to Sunnyvale from Ohio to be closer to family so I understand.

Come on back, you can always go back to KC if it dosent work out

Your combined salary will increase here over what you are making in KC

Let's just say, a police officer making $80k (combined income of $130k+) a year had to move his family to Tracy, CA to be able to buy a house. He bought a house that could easily go for $750k in Sunnyvale for $300k. He now has to commute from Tracy to San Jose every day. Good luck!
