Just another case of a local nobody who believes that he is someone special. A poor, uneducated soul who believed that he could scam the system and nobody would care. A legend in his own mind!

For too long, politicians in sunland park thought they could violate the law and get away with it. Favela knew he was doing wrong and relied on Mayor Martin Resendiz advice to go ahead an do it anyway. Time to face lady justice.

Sunland Park politics is very interesting. It's like seeing 1st generation immigrants who are used to a thoroughly and blatantly corrupt system learning that that doesn't fly here. It takes some a prison sentence to figure it out.

I say this with absolutely no racial overtones, just a commentary on two different political cultures. To be corrupt here one needs to be much more clever!:O

They aren't "immigrants" they're Mexicans. Corrupt Mexicans in the USA apparently bringing in the Mexican culture of corruption. Another export from south of the border. Haven't you noticed?

I haven't noticed that Mexicans are forbidden from being immigrants. Ever read about Tammany Hall? Course those were Irish bringing that Irish culture of corruption. Another export from across the pond. Didn't you notice?

Well the "pond" is 3000 miles of physical barrier which is the Atlantic Ocean, this qualifies the Irish as "immgrants". The Irish also came collectively in a legal manner, mostly a century ago. The Statue of Liberty faces Europe, not south into Mexico. Know why? Mexico has it's own country. What is happening/has happened in this countyr in modern times is nothing short of a silent invasion.

The Irish were legal because there was no immigration law back then. If you made it you made it, when the quotas where reached Ellis Island shut down and then those that came where illegal too. The Irish came, almost continually, for a period of about 100 years. from prior to the Civil War to the 30's.

There where plenty of legals and illegals back then too and the EXACT same vilification of them.

Again you are comparing apples to oranges, historically, chronologically, geographically and most imporatantly numerically. Look at the number of Irish that came, legally. Then look at the multimillions of Mexicans/Latin/South Americans/Caribeans people- solely Spanish speaking, enter the USA legally and ILLEGALLY, day after day, week after week, month upon month, year on year decade, after decade. Mind blowing in scale.
The Irish and Mexican comparison is disingenious.

As for the "vilification" part. Yeah right. Illegal aliens can get all kinds of benefits handed to them via U.S. taxpayer monies. Free housing, food stamps, free education, free medical care, etc. In their own language even, all the while illegally in the USA. That is not "vilification" that is insanity.

Back to Sunland, how many are "immigrants" and how many are illegal aliens ? Or do you blur this legal discription to fit your ethnic or ideological needs?

Uh huh. The ones in political office are immigrants and essentially that's who I was referring to. Disingenuous? That's laughable. My relatives came across via Ellis Island and I've heard the stories. Look up old newspaper articles if you want, it was the same for EVERY single wave of immigrants. Apples to manzanos to melas to apfels.

I don't support people coming over illegally but I don't buy the hyperbole that they wreak that much havoc. You're a fear monger and we've seen where that leads us. Time to put your fear aside and deal with the realities of living next to a poor country. Immigration reform needs to happen so we can make use of cheap labor without having the issues we do now. The wall is and economy has cut down the flow to trickle but as soon as we start coming out of the Great Recession too many business owners will put their politics aside to take advantage of cheap labor once again.

Let's see you go after farms subsidies, tax cheats and corporate welfare with the same venom and then I'll give your arguments a little more credit.

Hilarious. Fear monger. So I guess I could say you have your head in the sand.
Give them amnesty (immigration reform) and everything will be alright. You must not remember 1986's Immigration Reform Act aka the "never again amnesty". That worked out real well didn't it. Either way, why would anyone here illegally have an incentive to go back to country of origin. They have a greater economic benefit to just live off of social benefits than to go home. Anyway, I thought we just needed illegal aliens to pick lettuce right?
To do the same thing over and expect a different result is the definition of insanity.
I would suggest you do your homework on illegal immigration and then punch the numbers. I have. You are doing a disservice to Americans and their families IMHO by cultivating the myth of immigration as non-problematic. The problems vastly outway any benefits for Americans.
