a friend of mine told me about how Sears will keep your deposit if you cancel what you want done,he knows a woman that lost her $2500 deposit because she had to leave the state and canceled having windows put in.He lost $2000 as well.I think this is terrible that Sears takes advantage of the elderly. How about a poll?Who else has been done this way? What can we do to get changes in their policy?Or just spread the word.Word of mouth works both ways, can promote or destroy

Not sticking up for Sears, but I have to ask if you know what a deposit is?
When you put up a deposit and you do not follow through you forfeit the deposit. It has been like that for hundreds of years.
The reason is the business has to order stuff that they have to pay for and than they are stuck with it because you backed out.

Sears hires sub-conractors to do their work like lowes and home depot. Next time hire a contractor directly and cut out the middle man.Very costly to pay everyone involved.Easy to use your sears credit card but most contractors offer financing
