Does anyone know exactly what is wrong with the Selinsgrove DLC? My daughter simply cannot pass their road test because she can't seem to even get out of the parking lot to drive. What I mean is, they require a perfect, and I mean PERFECT parallel parking test before you may leave the parking lot to drive. When did parallel parking become *THE* criteria for safe driving? How can slightly bumping a tire on the curb or a couple of attempts at backing in mean you are denied a chance to drive? This is extremely unfair and what I would call a form of intimidation and abuse of power. When I was learning to drive, the parallel parking test was the last thing that was required of young drivers after they completed their road test. The whole test didn't hinge on just a parking test. Certainly the parallel parking test should be graded and counted into the overall score. But what provincial genius is running the Selinsgrove center? Everyone knows that you go to Williamsport if you want a fair shake on your test!

My daughter has failed twice in Selinsgrove. Without going into detail, she was failed unfairly both times. She has been yelled at and otherwise intimidated and abused by them. Each tester has lied and then become defensive and loud when questioned. The supervisor there is useless. We have reported this center to Penn Dot being very specific about the circumstances and staff. You should do the same. The more complaints that are received, the more seriously they will be taken.

Okay, this is good advice! I hope others will also follow your advice and report the Selinsgrove Driver's License Center to Penndot for being abusive and unfair.

Not suprising at all. They are corrupt because they lie in order to protect themselves. So one has to ask, what exactly is their agenda? At the Selinsgrove DLC, they are rude, anal, dishonest, and defensive.

They failed me three times. The first time was because I failed the parallel parking test, which I can't complain. But the second or third time were completely unfair. They were also rude during the test. Moreover, I think they are racially biased. Many of my international friends from Bucknell University have complained to me about the selingsgrove dmv. I think Penn Dot should seriously investigate the selingsgrove dmv. I mean this is simply unacceptable.

Welcome to the growing number of people who have their time and money wasted by the Selinsgrove DMV. They are a bunch of provincial clowns that wield what little power they have in a biased and corrupt fashion! Let's tell the Daily Item about the story there!

Good luck to you, because that's what you'll need at this place, the Selingsgrove DMV. They are illegally failing people that should have passed in order to affect the statistics for teen drivers in PA. By forcing multiple tests on teens, they think they're helping the accident stats. It's not proven that this helps the stats and it's dishonest.

Thanks Tom! I should thank my stars...Yay!! luckily I passed the test :)The three people in front of me failed it though.

The first one parallel parked perfectly but hit the cones on her way out. The second one parallel parked alright, but failed his drive test as he looked the wrong directions while at the stop sign..was supposed to look left-right-then left again..but he did the opposite. The third one was unable to maintain the speed limit constantly I guess..When the examiner brought them back he would explain their faults, which were pretty audible from drive test start area...so I prepped myself and made sure not to make any of those mistakes. What really helped in my case was being extra cautious. I made exaggerated head turns at stop signs and traffic lights and also slowing down much before the expected stop helped as there weren't any sudden jerks.

Hope this helps...Good luck to all that are taking their test here:)

I took my test there in December. It wasn't as bad as you all are crying about. The guy who tested me was nice enough. After we did the parking thing, we went out on the road test. I didn't have any problems. I think it would be better if you know how to drive when you go in to take the test. Watch the speed limit signs, really stop at stop signs,(girl before me rolled thru a stop sign in the parking lot and failed) and don't use any of the bad habits you saw your whole life. If the person who is teaching you how to drive does a lot of bad stuff (as my "teacher" did) tell them about it. I had like 5 people tell me you cant turn around when you are backing up. If you dont, they will fail you. You have to look. You have to know how to work all of the stuff in your car. Everything. Headlights (automatic ones have to turn on with the switch and you have to know how to do it) 4 ways, defrosters, emergency brake, etc. If you go there and try to wing it you will fail. I am 21 years old and I just decided to get my license. I passed the first time.

Wow, I am not suprised to see all of the people with these issues. I took my test there a few weeks ago and I was failed because the lady claimed I did not look before pulling out of parallel parking, although I clearly did. She also said I took too long to pull out onto the highway. There was a car coming, and yes I probably would have made it, but I decided to wait because better safe than sorry ESPECIALLY while taking the road test. She then became defensive when my parents questioned her and told me to either learn how to drive or don't try at all. Completely ridiculous.

Oh and congrats to the guy who is 21 and only got his license now. Lol

I failed my first attempt at the driving test in the parallel parking area. The examiner was an old lady with grey hair and in all consideration gave me another chance but I was too away from the curb, I would have failed myself! She did recommend to practice at that spot on other days and I did do that. Ten days later I tried my luck again, it was the same examiner , she was remembered me and was very helpful, and kind. She infact explained to me the parallel parking and I did it correctly and we drove out and I passed. My experience from getting learners permit to the license from May to Sep this year at selinsgrove has been excellent. I think one has to be a very poor driver on the road to fail at this place.

Maybe you got a new examiner there. Perhaps they are actually trying to change their old nasty attitude there by replacing the ones on a power trip that have given them there lousy reputation.

My daughter passed on her first try there. I know it is great to blame others but maybe she is just bad at driving/parking and needs more practice.

These are valid reasons to fail your road test, if you cannot judge the amount of time you have to get out onto the highway, you should not have passed. I know that isn't fun to hear...but perhaps you just aren't ready. Their job is to make sure you ARE safe and ready before they give you a pass to be on the road where you could actually hurt/kill real people. and who are you to judge the age one gets their license? It sounds to be that you're just mad he passed and you did not.

I took my test there 12 years ago... When the man came out he said to turn on my emergency lights... I turned on my windshield wipers.. Then when parallel parking I was so crooked in the cones... And he let me go and passed me... Idk why but he did. Thankfully I haven't had accidents or tickets since I got it 12 long years ago

Should I be concerned about my test there in 2 weeks? I failed at another place due partially to my vehicle choice but mostly because of an instructor that hated me before the test. After an argument with the instructor, I cannot go there or I will fail again, so I scheduled a test in selingrove, some comments were good, others real bad. I am debating canceling.
