The Berkshire Township Open House held on May 5th was a great success! Dozens of residents came to visit and tour the new facilities at 1454 Rome Corners Road. During the afternoon, township officials discussed cemetery updates, concerns and items related to zoning and township growth. Overviews were given regarding the new AEP transfer station and the latest scoop on long term plans for the Route 36/37 interchange and expansion possibilities. The latest information on local township roads and a tour of the maintenance area was a big hit.
At approximately 2PM, Berkshire Township officials held a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony. The Trustees agreed from the beginning that all persons involved in the day to day operations, Zoning and the Zoning Appeals Boards, and the construction team should be included in the actual ceremony.
The attached picture shows the persons involved in the actual ribbon cutting ceremony.
From Left to right: Mike Bauder (Webmaster), Roland Smith, Jon Kerr (both from the Zoning Board),Dan Hale (Maintenance Supervisor), Larry Buell (Sexton), Jim Smith (former Fiscal Officer). Jim Kappenhagen (former Trustee), Bill Holtry (Trustee), Melody George (Fiscal Officer), Bob Carpenter (Trustee) Rodney Myers (Trustee), Jeff George (Zoning Officer). Ron Kus (Chairman- Zoning Appeals Board), Dorothy Kerr and Bruce Denton (Zoning Appeals Board), Scott George (Construction project)
Unable to attend were; Susan Williams (Zoning Secretary), Steve Gardner, Kim Bowling and Keith Kintner of the Zoning Board, and Phil Gardner, Jim Spurrier and Betsy Bender of the Zoning Appeals Board.
Dave Weade, Chairman of the Zoning Board was also missed as he had to cancel at the last minute to go to the hospital and welcome his first grandchild. Itís a Boy! We send congratulations to Grandfather Weade and family!
Just a reminder, the trustee meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Mondays each month at 7:30 PM. The Zoning meetings are held the first Thursday each month at 7PM.
Stop in and see the new facility. As you all know, Berkshire Township is a great place to live.
Upward and onward!
Berkshire Township Trustee
