Sun City Gardens sure doesn't treat its elderly residents too good, does it? Maybe this place should be shut down for good.

I was reading these posts and I see that people are ingnorant to what actually goes on in an assisted living facility/Dementia Care. The residents are treated with respect with the best 24 hour staff there is, which is not easy by any means (why don't you put your fry basket down and fill out an app?) As far sexually abused? You have a sick mind, maybe lived in the wrong park. Next one treated like an animal, I don't see how that's possible considering the caregivers dress, feed, shower, escort to meals, HOSPICE CARE-(that alone is enough) Who sits with the residents when their selfish, not give a shit family never comes for holidays, birthdays, to maybe show off a new grandbaby, even a simple meal once every 5 years, we talk to them, visit, and not because we are getting paid because we love and care about our residents in or out of work. One last thing, who do you think is with them when they pass?

working with the elderly is a choice and requires special people who care. irregardless of personal issues it takes courage, compassion, and understanding to the highest level.

I worked there for 8 years and the residents had it great it is a beautiful place to live and good food, and a good maintence crew that would be there if any happened and they had housekeeping at there fingertips and the one thing I noticed no jewelry was stolen the resident had misplaced it and was found I cared for all the residents I came in contact with and treated them like family along with everybody else that worked there. A lot of the residents would say their family dumped them off there and dont visit and it is true. So I dont think the gardens is a bad place to live.

Have been there many times as a Notary Public. Saw no such thing. Facility is clean, great staff. Talked to many residents and heard not one complaint about Sun City Gardens. Just statements on how they feel their families just left them there to die. Very sad.

I just attended the Senior Prom with the residents at this facility. They were happy, content and well taken care of. The caregivers and staff seemed to really care for these people. Some of these residents have not seen their own family in some time so these compassionate employees "are" their family. I wish to thank them for a job well done.

I have never seen so many rude, obnoxious people in one place. Residents have temper tantrum if meals are 2 minutes late or there is no strawberry ice cream todaY. They seem to think being 80-100 gives them a license to be nasty. Great staff puts up with this every day. Of course the whole town has a tantrum if they have to wait in line at the bank when they don't have to be someplace in a hurry.
And all of these people have their mental faculties in tact.

The employees at suncity gardens care for the residents as if they were there own family. They show nothing but kindness and respect to every indivdual their. They listen, spend time getting to know each person and are their for them around the clock. Which with most people living there one day just 24 hrs is more then they see most of there family in months.

My 90 year old grandparents live there. I choose the place for them. It is wonderful! They are well cared for, the facilities are not only clean but lovely as well. The staff is fantastic. My mother visits several timw a week and has nothing but praise. The meals are tasty and healthy. The facility offers special events such as a Hawian Show this past summer. The staff has always been caring and professional. The maitenance team is great. Caring for the elderly is a difficult job, but SunCity Gardens does an exceptional job.

Are you kidding me? This is a lovely facility! My mother lives there and loves it, and we are perfectly comfortable having her do so. We visit often and have never seen any sign of abuse or mistreatment to her or any other resident. Not only is Sun City Gardens reasonably priced, it is one of the finest facilities we've found anywhere, and we visited/researched many before making the choice.

When we were looking for a care facility for our Uncle, my cousin had some perceptive advice.
"It's not the bells and whistle's a facility has because those are not for the residents but for the children, etc. who are searching for a place where their loved ones can live. Take a good, close look at the residents. Do they smile, does the staff interract with them, are there many residents for your loved one to socialize with, eat the food-are the meals well balanced and tasty, do they have a variety of activities whether outside or inside that the residents can participate in, do the grounds seem well cared for and the last but very important consideration, does it smell."
Sun City Gardens was the First senior facility my brother, cousin and I looked at amoung many we visited and you know what? Sun City Gardens was the only living arrangement that met all of my Cousin's criteria and yet was still reasonable for our Uncle's finances.
So A Big shout out "THANK YOU" to all of the caregivers at Sun City Gardens!

It is not the residents that need help there its the empolyees.. They are understaffed, underpaid & overworked. The "higher ups" as I will refer 2 them are rude, uncaring & scandalous. They should pay their caregivers a fair wage for the job they do its a hard and thankless job their only true reward is from the patients and a few family members who appreciate what they do for them.

This place could be better, except they've lost a lot of good employees. And have hired an LVN that doesn't seem to know what she's doing, and some caregivers that have no clue on how to provide care for their residents. Get rid new help and bring back the old!

Unless you have worked there or are working there you have no idea as for the people who are no longer there if you were fired maybe you should wake up and do your job if you left and wanted to go back and did it in a way allowing you to go back then go back if that's what you want as for the new lvn maybe the lvn isn't perfect but no one is is it really them not doing there job or is it that they just aren't doing it the way you would that has you upset. As far as under paid and over worked most care givers any place you go are its a hard job not many can handle but no one is forcing anyone to stay at a job they don't like we live in a free country with many opportunities so find something you like if your in happy make yourself happy only you can.

Sun city gardens is under staffed. Though the place is kept up and clean as are the residents. The staff is over worked and way under paid. The residents are well taken care of and loved. On any given day when I go in for a visit I see the staff constantly busy weather it is doing laundry, dumping trash, assisting a resident down the hall or to and from a meal. Bringing residents in wheelchairs to and from appointments and activities as well as changing, dressing, and grooming the residents it seems like the people taking care of are family's are doing the job of six people on there own. I was talking to a few care givers the other day did you know that most of them start out at just above minimum wage? So the next time you think your job is had put your self in there shoes just for a moment. How would you explaine to some one who hasn't seen a loved one in months that they are special and loved. How do you tell some one who feels like dying that there is something to fight for. Have you fed someone who can't feed themselves anymore. Have you helped anyone lately. Care givers are special people stepping in and helping out when we can't be there 24 - 7 for our parents. When emotionally we nothing left to give. Thank you caregivers at suncity gardens for being there.

My mom lived here for a year and a half and LOVED it. It was the happiest time of her retirement life. Yes the facility is older, but well maintained. The servers, maintenance workers and caregivers are kind and devoted to the residents. There are some issues with management and quality of food but I suspect those are being addressed. No care facility can replace the level of care a family member would give nor do the replace the responsibility of family members. Any resident's experience here will likely be what hey make of it.
