Who's allowed to collect The Villages' recyclables? -- OrlandoS...

It's not easy being green. Just ask residents here, on the road to nowhere if they're looking for curbside recycling.

We live in Fredonia, NY and bought a villa in the Villages.
We have had recycling here in Fredonia for 20 years. It is about the good of our children, grandchildren and the global
needs. We love the Villages but might reconsider our plans to move there, if they don't recycle.

"But you're dealing with a retirement community with elderly people. They're not going to bale them and bring them to the churches," said Sue Michalson, 71.

Why not? Many of them are schlepping to church all the time anyway. They'll schlepp miles to take belongings to resale shops. They schlepp to the town squares nightly for partying and line-dancing. They schlepp to concerts and sports and the pool and restaurants hobby groups and polo matches and the golf course... they have plenty of time for schlepping.

While it's an outrage that any community doesn't have a recycling program in this day and age, it's also a shame that people still sit around and wait for the government to do something that they themselves could/should be doing.
