I remember when the first drive-thru fast food restaurant opened in Sumter. No more standing in lines to get your burgers and fries.

Very good blog J.R. I agree with you. I think Zaxbys is by far the slowest, but then again they supposedly have to cook everything "Fresh". Great story, rich and compelling!!!

Huh?

You must have read a different story. Because this was nothing but a couple paragraphs of a guy rambling about isoltaed incidents in the drive-thru. This is not "news". It's barely even a blog post.

This is dumb. Let's complain about how it takes longer than fifteen seconds to have our dead animal carcass shoved through a window in a paper bag.
And people complain about being fat, about obese kids?
Why don't you just cook your own dinner? Maybe even eat a vegetable or two?

This is a good blog. Everyone can relate to this.

It shouldn't be called fast food if it's gonna be so slow!

The McDonald's in Manning is the absolute SLOWEST in the world!

One time I sat at the drive thru at McDonalds for 10 minutes on my lunch break, only to find out that their credit card machine is down... and I had NO cash... needless to say I let the girl know exactly where she could put that credit card machine...

I like your style. A seioud post eith a toch of humor. People need to ce more accountable for their actions instead of looking to sue someone at the drop of the hat for their dumb decisions.

Excuse the previous post. I like your style. A serious post with a touch of humor. People need to be more accountable for their actions instead of looking to sue someone at the drop of a hat for their dumb decisions.

I love drive-thru service. I have trouble walking and it makes alot of difference afer I have been on my feet for seven hours a day.

Bojangles is bad about not filling your order correctly. I have learned to look at what I have before I pull away. Food has gotten greasier and I don't stop there at all any more. Service is very slow.

I agree!! Let's talk about Churches Chicken, ATTITUDE and why when as the customer we pay your SALARY so if you don't want to treat me right GO HOME E.T. They ask you to pull over majority of the time and for what have enough CHICKEN COOKED on schedule not that lay over (Sit up) Chicken and when they have you pull over they won't even offer you something FREE of our choice.. Come on REPESENT the CHURCH (DISCIPLESHIP)if you are giong to use the name!!!!!
Then one evening my daughter and I went to SUBSTATION (Sub sandwich) on Garnersferry Road the empployees were just chillin they told us that their slicer was broke so we went back the next day and was told by a different crew that they LIED because they just didn't want to do any work. I left my name and # as requested and that was about a month ago, quest what i haven't heard anything from the manger yet. They are putting anybody over their businesses and looking over the hard workers who enjoy what they do. STOP BEING S_L_A_C_K_!!!!!!!!!

Burger King on Hwy. 1 across from the Barnyard Flea Market at breakfast time is awful about filling my simple order. Since I used to live close by, I would do the unexpected and take it back inside the lobby for them to correct. What is so complicated about 2 ham and cheese croissants and an orange juice? Just because I said and, does not give them the right to put egg on it.

I always order "one large black coffee please" and then they always ask "cream and sugar?". For some reason I just think that is funny. Not paying attention. Working at the drive thru can't be easy because customers are in a hurry and the person working the window is really at the mercy of the cooks.

JR, I have had problems with the McDonalds by Shaw Air Force Base as well. However, McDonalds is fast most of the time. Hardee's on the other hand is slow, but their food is better than McDonalds. So do you wait longer to get a better burger (any burger is better than McDonalds) or do you settle for McDonalds because its usually quick and cheap? I think Chick Fil A and Arby's employees are the most professional and the most well trained.

I agree about the folks who work at Chik-Fil-A.(Don't eat at Arbys enough to know.) What I hate at fast food places is when it's your time in line and they just look at you without saying a thing. No, "Hey how are you?" Not even a"May I take your order?"

I rarely go through the driv throughs anywhere just because most times I think it's faster to go inside. Plus. that way you can make sure the order is right. But there have been a few times, I will walk out if they don't at least acknowldge me. If they hate their job that much, they aren't going to care one way or the other if they get my order right. I won't go to Bojangles across from Williams-Brice because I just find those folks in there mean and rude. I'll go out of my way to the one on Elmwood first.

Another place I won't go to anymore is the Wendy's on Assembly. The last time I went there, they were not nice AND they got my order wrong two times. I went through the drive through first and they got it wrong, so I went inside where they "fixed" it. I got in my car and realized it was wrong and took ti back in. They took it behind the counter where I couldn't see and when they brought out another sandwich, I opened it up and looked at it this time. The manager was standing right there and not once did he apologize or make any comment. And sicne I had spent all this time getting a simple Baconator, now my fries were cold and my drink was going flat. But they never offered to give me new fries.

I will never set foot back in that Wendy's again.

Pam...please stop drinking the Hat-O-Rade. I enjoy JR's posts, who cares if they aren't the next great masterpiece or the latest breaking news. He talks about the things that affect us all on a day to day basis. Some things that most people think everday but don't say out loud. I enjoy his posts and I do think they are RICH AND COMPELLING!!!!

Many Wendy's locations are bad, but the one on Bush River Road is the worst. We ordered 2 frosties in the drive through and when we got to the window, the girl charged us for and gave us one. My husband said, "actually, we ordered 2." No exaggeration, she said "no you didn't - you said one. You only ordered one so I gave you one." As another poster mentioned, the manager was standing right behind her and gave no reaction. Nice attitude - we no longer go to Wendy's. Why bother when there's Rush's?? Great food and service.

That is the truth. Rush's is very quick and efficient also.
