Nothing is More Shameful Then a Sorry Republican Not raising wages

No one can raise a family on $7.25 an hour.

But the federal minimum wage has been stuck at that level for almost four years. That's a shame. But you know what's more shameful? House Republicans refuse to raise it!

We need to tell the GOP we won't stand for that. Can you add your name and demand action now? Help reach 100,000 strong demanding a minimum wage increase.

The minimum wage is actually worth $2 less today than it was in 1968. In fact, if the federal minimum wage had kept up with the inflation rate, it'd be $10.60 an hour, instead of the $7.25 Republicans want to keep it at.

Why should families be forced to struggle when the answer is right in front of us? Let's raise the minimum wage and give all Americans a fair shot at their own American Dream.

There IS something more shameful than a republican that won't raise wages ...a democrat that won't do it.

Haven't seen Obama signing any executive orders to help the MILLIONS of low wage employees working for federal contractors.

The problem is that people have their priorities out of order and do not live within their means. The line between want and need has been blurred They believe that having a new iphone with unlimited texting and data, cable tv, the fastest internet connection, rims on their car, alcohol, cigarettes, etc, are a requirement to live and that they are entitled to such things even if they cannot afford them. People supplement their lives with all sorts of things they don't need and then expect a hand out from the goverment because they manage their money poorly. I shouldn't see someone using a new iphone and then getting into a car newer than mine after paying for items with food stamps. Now that is what I call shameful.

I earn 3x the median income here yet still live as cheaply as possible. My phone does only what I need and is multiple years old, my internet connection is the cheapest available, my two vehicles are both over a decade old, I don't have an ipod, I cook all my meals at home, etc. With my current monthly expense I can live within the Mc Donalds suggested budget for a minimum wage job and have money left over. I'll do this regardless of how much I earn in the future. This allows me to save and invest for my future so I will never have to ask the government to hold my hand. I have a large slice of American pie and choose to use a very small fork. If I can do it, so can everyone else.

Another issue is that people are trying to take a minimum wage job and turn it into a career. Those jobs are meant to be temporary work for highschool, college students, or people looking for some extra income and nothing more. The wages are fine for the difficulty of work being done in. No math or creativity is needed. For example: Fast food cooking is all automatic. A worker simply has to push a button and listen for a beep. No valuable skill is necessary to complete the required tasks. The way it is supposed to work is that a person gets and education and learns a skill that is vauable to an employer. Taxpayers shouldn't be forced to support someone who failed to bloom. If a person should pursuit higher wages through aquiring a skill to justify the higher rate of pay. We all have the same opportunites in this country.

Republicans and democrats are both garbage that tries to keep the masses distracted from the real issues by controlling the media. My vote goes to people getting off their butts and making smart choices and making something of themselves through hard work. Blaming something or someone else for personal failures is just another step in the wrong direction. A person should take control and take responsibility for his or her own choices. It is never to late to make changes in life in order to achieve success.
