DuPree's Progress Hattiesburg plan finding little support
Mayor Johnny DuPree still has faith in his Progress Hattiesburg plan that would add a 1 percent sales tax to selected retail items to pay for upgrades to the city's streets, sewers and drainage.

I thought back when the 2cent tax was enacted to build the convention center that when the center was paid for the city would take the 2cent off!! I think that the center should be paid off by now or close to it. If I am not wrong why not take the 1 cent tax out of that?
