My heart goes out to his family. What i`d like to know is why was he running that machine alone?? That kind of work should have 2 working on lt just for safety sake.

Due to safety concerns he was not supposed to be operating the machinery. In addition, he was supposed to have additional supervision in place due to his functional limitations and his need for specialized support.

I am employed with Goodwill in another State and believe me this employee should have not been able to operate this type of machinery (which I know all about) unsupervised..this story has totally sickened me to pieces....I am just heartbroken for this family and what they have had to endear this past week. I am also totally PISSED that there was not proper supervision for this employee working such machinery, trust me if there had been, that young man would be here today with his loving family!!! I cry at just the thought of what this young man and his family went through and are still going through to this day. Yes accidents do happen, but with the extent of his disability there should have been proper supervision, and another thing that has really angered me is this same store has already been fined several times through the state for "serious" safety violations, maybe not with this machinery, but that does not matter, something at that store was not going right and the management there should have acted upon somehow. I have worked for Goodwill for a little more than 4 years and am in management and I am just so appalled at the thought of what happened at that store. I could not just sit back and be quiet over this. I am also a member of the safety committe and have been for 4 years. I know this young man would have been been even operating such machinery at my store and if so he would have been supervised for sure! God rest this young mans soul, may he rest in peace and may God bless his loving family. I am truly truly sorry this happened.PLEASE everyone keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
