Looks like the booming started up again (March 19, 2013). It seems like the postings from last year are about the same time frame, so I'll take a guess and say it's Ft Lewis annual armory maneuvers(?). I live on South Hill (Puyallup) next to Graham, and it's probably going to make me lose sleep. Sheit. Oh, and yes, Ft Lewis has LOTS of tanks...and guns...and birds...and other fun booming-type-stuff. Just be glad they're on OUR side! If you have kids, tell them our military is practicing to make sure that the baddies won't try and bother us - and the booms are proof that we're the biggest and best! Works over here ;)

I can hear it too. I'm about 25 min from base and figures I wouldn't be able to hear things from the base. But at least i know what it is and I am glad that our military is getting practice for whatever could ever possibly happen so they can be prepared. I just sleep with a white noice maker and it drowns out most of the booms.

As from all the other posts I can tell none of you live on base. You think it's loud where you are a couple towns away? Try living on the base while there down range practicing with bombs and such. It's happening all over the country it's annual training. Like someone said before if you moved to a surrounding town you must have known that there was a military base and that you might hear some of the noise coming from it. Sorry our fences and gates don't block out noise...

I haven't heard the Army training lately. Normally we hear it from Olympia. However, the Army does love to train past mid-night. You may hear their exercises.

I hear loud booms every Good Friday (and Holy Saturday) It really scares my dogs and they start shaking and hiding ! Come to find out the noises are generated by the Yaqui Indian Tribe as a part of their Easter celebration ! I don't have a problem with religious freedom or even people who like to party but when it affects my dogs and my sanity (because it sounds like a war-zone at midnight on Good Friday every year)That's what really 'chaps my hide'

You are living next to an Army base. You will hear loud noises from time to time. We normally hear, not loud, artillery practice here in Olympia. You must be closer to the impact point then we are. Deal with bought, or rented, the house in full knowledge. The military will not suspend training because your dogs or you are disturbed about the noises. You moved into that location! Freedom is not FREE!

Just a tid bit of info from a military personel on JBLM. When you call in a complaint it doesn't change a thing nor will it, and calling your congressman can't change it either. Just so you guys know before you waist your time.
