I have personally worked at Overlook ER as well as with Stephan. Many times when these traumas come in, there are many people in and out of the rooms: respiratory, techs, radiology, numerous nurses, residents, etc. Yes there is a protocol to do a check list with the patients belongings....BUT we attempt to save the patients life first so the belongings are not a priority of ours...THE PATIENTS LIFE IS! Stephan is just a person to blame, in the wrong place at the wrong time. After all life saving measures were completed and the patient was stabilized, he did the check list and was ultimately to blame because he signed it...not because he took the money. All of you out there judging before you know the facts, next time it could be you in the wrong place at the wrong time and I hope you get judged. This is a hard working father that is going to school, he is not going to throw it all away for $600! Now his career as an RN is over I hope he sues the pants off of Atlantic Health and the Summit police dept when this all clears...he better have a pit-bull of a lawyer because is a good guys wrongly accused.

Exactly Jay. Stephan is a thief and I hope he gets whats coming to him. Hope it was worth it you moron! Sue the hospital, give me a break. So much for personal accountability. You must be his mom "Anonymous."

I agree with Anonymous. Sometimes it is best not to judge until you know all the sides of the story. I worked with this man for 5 years. Not saying that anyone is perfect but sometimes it is best not to rush to judgment. He is one of the best nurses that I ever worked with

There is no rushing to judgement here. He admitted that he did it! He's not even denying it so why defend this guy.

I too worked with Stephan at Overlook....I don't know why or how this happened....I heard that he admitted what he did. Such a waste of a great nurse. Only he can answer for his motivation...

I have been a patient at Overlook Hospital on 2 seperate occasions, and have found the quality of care given there, was exemplary. The actions of this one man, (who I might add admitted to taking the money that was found in HIS possession) should not reflect badly on the Hospital or remainder of it's staff. There are many well respected and reputable employee's, doctors, and nurses at this hospital that go above and beyond daily, but rarely if ever do they get recognized for their quality of service.
