A dead possum just washed up on the banks of the Watauga River. Is there any way this could affect (not effect!) humans that goes into that there river?

I had the hotel I was staying at call on the dolphin that swam up to us at Myrtle Beach trying to beach itself. There was nothing we could do for it. She was so heavy. Point is when the authorities arrrived, she had died and they said to go wash immediately as the dolphin was contagious.

They probably had you wash yourselves because you are from Yuba City, not because of a misfortinate marine mammal.
