Myself and my 3 children have been going to Health First for about 5 years now. We started in North Charleston, but then were very happy to find out that there was a location in Summerville (much closer to home)!
I have been so pleased with their care, that I have made them our primary care provider. The staff is ALWAYS pleasant and move in a timely manner!
I do have to say that I have 1 (only 1) complaint... I take meds which would normally be called in and refilled by any other doctor with no problem, however... to get a refill at Health First, you MUST be seen and pay a fee first. I guess if I had insurrance, this wouldn't be a big deal, but I don't and I can't afford to always pay that fee....so therefore sometimes I have to go months WITHOUT my blood pressure medicine :-/
Like I said...We LOVE Health First (just not 1 simple rule that they enforce)!!!
P.S.S....Dr.Yoo is the absolute BEST! He greets everyone with a smile everytime! And he's quick!!!

My wife went to health first in summerville with kidney pains. She was sent to a specialist. The specialist sent his report over to health first 4 days ago but health first says they do not have it. After they got our money I suppose they do not care about follow up. They wont even try to get the information for us. Very disappointed. Meanwhile my wife is waiting in extreme pain because we were told that they would call us but they never have. We should have called every day repeatedly until they did the job we paid them to do.

I took my son there when he was a baby because he was coughing so hard he couldn't breathe and his pediatrician was closed, my car was broke down and the neighbor had to take me since it was close otherwise I woulda went to in MUSC, after talking for just a few minutes the doctor said it was acid reflux and wouldn't do an x-ray. I wasn't satisfied with their answer so I took into a different doctor and found out he had whooping cough! another time my husband took him there at age 2 while I was at work because he was throwing up constantly and the doctor said not to give him Pedialyte to give him banay because it didn't have sugar in it and then he would stop throwing up. well when I got home at night I found that my son had been sleeping in when I tried to wake him to feed him he was not responding at all, my husband Said he had only been sleeping for two hours and drank four bottles of the ban a drink, so we rushed him to er and found that he was dehydrated and his sugar was way too low, he had to be admitted overnight and the doc at the hospital said I should have continued feeding him the brats diet and given him pedialyte NOT ban a! Even the times I went there for my own health issues I have found them to be extremly rude. I I went the other day because I had a bad cold and I had to take my son because I didn't have a babysitter my son was crying and screaming because he's terrified of doctor since he's always had health issues and had plenty of shots of steriods n antiboitics and been to the doctor over 100times literally along with 2 surgeries so he has every right to be scared, the doctor came out and yelled at him to hush and told me to get my child and calm him down! I have never been so disrespected in my life I will never go back there again obviously they do not know how to deal with or treat children. I should have learned from the first visit but thoight that if there were different doctors maybe they would have changed but nope. Horrible place

Bedside manor was terrible, I was in tears he seemed to not care and let me go when I was so upset I could not breath cause he had me crying. He was yelling and he slammed the door after I asked if he looked at my X-rays. I asked several times why he was yelling at me he told me he had to interrogate me. Never did he show me my X-rays or discuss my problem or offer a solution just asked me what do I want. He asked me what did I expect to leave with sounds like he was insinuating that I was a drug seeker must be why he had to interrogate me but know days there is a data base for that. This was at the Mount Pleasant office. Not one person has called me to apologize. Looking into taking further actions. And had the nerve to bill my ins company, if i see a bill look out i will have a lot more to say this is a short summary The dr was Bo machado

I have been going to Healthfirst since they opened so almost 8 years. My family has had each and every doctor. Each has a different personality but all of them are good at what they do. Dr. Machado knows his stuff. He might not have the best bedside manner but he saved my life literally.I work in the medical field and believe me, not many Doctors have the so called perfect personality. Ask for a different doctor when you go in, they can easily tell you whos working that day.I've not been to any other facility that has the overall care that I've recieved there.

I am extremely disappointed with the health first location in west ashley. I went in for a vaccination, and could not believe how rude the PA was that administered it was to me. In addition, after dropping the syringe on the filthy floor after it had its cap removed, he proceeded to still give me the shot. Disgusting. The whole staff was rude and I was rushed along even though I came in three hours before closing and there were no other patients waiting. When I called to complain, I got "disconnected." never again will I ever to to a health first and I will make sure that I spread the word so that no one I know goes to this "health care provider."

I have been taking my whole family to the Rivers Ave location for years and love it. They are now our family doctors and I will not go anywhere else. Their quality of service and friendliness go well above and beyond the other practices we have tried. Thank you for years of great service!

My daughter and I have been going to HealthFirst North Charleston since they opened years ago, and so does everyone in my family, including my sister who has 5 children. We have always been very pleased with their services and have NEVER had one single complaint about them about anything. Love HeathFirst. Keep up the good work !!

I went there several years ago for a broken hand. I was told to come back and they were going to just put a cast on me and said that that form of treatment would suffice. Luckily I was a high school athlete at the time and went to South Carolina Sports Medicine for a second opinion and after Xrays, it was determined that I actually had a spiral fracture and had I been placed in a cast, my finger would have been permanently deformed. I ended up having to have surgery to fix the break. Thank goodness for second opinions and good doctors.

I didny know x-rays were painful.
They are if you have a broken bone and are so little that you don't understand what is happening! Children have to be held still, the appendage has to be held at a certain angle, and no treatment will be done until x-rays are done, so no medication or setting...imagine trying to get a three year old with a broken bone to not do things to aggravate it with no cast on! I think the mommy above had a really bad experience and it seems like almost no one would listen to her. That kind of thing DOES happen and it is terrifying and infuriating when it happens to you.

I have been to Health First several times and have never had a problem.Dr.Clark is an amazing doctor that really cares. The front staff and nurses are all nice and very courteous.I even referred several people and they were all pleased.I love it because it's quick and they give you the right medications and you start feeling better in hours if not minutes.I went because of my asthma and after a shot and breathing treatment,I felt better within 30 minutes.I was impressed how quickly I felt relief. The service you get at Health First is how all doctors offices should be.I just can't say enough good things about them. All my family will continue to go to Health First for all our medical needs.God Bless.

I only go Health First in N Chas whenever I need immediate care for accidents or sudden, acute illness. The care is great; the staff is very professional and thorough. Dr. Yoo my favorite! I would be lost without them.

My 5 year olds pcp is Sweetgrass pediatrics. They're all over charleston. My pcp is a joke who only wants to put people on addictive pain meds to get a better paycheck (dr David a smith summerville). I use health first in summerville for anything non emergency (broken bones Ect...) staff is wonderful doctor yoo is wonderful. I have never had a bad experience. I'm on my way there now and must say I'm looking very forward to it.
