Ptitstop oil change

My wife pulled into the Pittstop on St James Avenue in Goose Creek for an oil change.

She asked the man there if they gave a military discount on there oil changes.... He said no, why should we...

She stated because the military is out ther giving there lives for you and everyone else.

He said something like we don't give one. My wife said that was nasty.

He left and then came back saying I don't appreciate you calling me nasty.... She said she didn't. Just that no military discount is nasty.

He asked her if she wanted to talk to the manager. She said no. But evidently he got him anyway.

The manager said discounts should be asked befor the care was brought in... Personally I don't see what difference that is... If they don't give a discount it doesnt matter. If they did, they would have given it anyway.

I have worked some years working retail... As hard as it is, I have always been told, and when I managed a store went by the rule the customer was right. I realize there could be certain situations that could differ.

But here that employee shouldn't have came out challenging, the manager should have been appologizing for his employee. He didn't.

No big loss for themI guess. We are one family and two cars. But there are to many other places we can go to have a oil change.

Maybe if you are military or a Veteran, it sounds like they are not supporting you.

It will not be the Pittsop.

you don't know how to change your own oil. sounds like the military only made you dumber. changing your own oil is far cheaper than taking it to a shop you noob.

But with Oil and 4 or 5 dollars a quart and a few dollars for the filter, the difference isn't that much for me to avoid crawling under the truck or car to do it. My time is worth the extra 5 to 10 dollars... IF I take it to Midas it probably doesnt cost much more than it would cost for me to buy my own oil and filter.

Especially when I have to pull out the pan, pull out the tools, crawl under and then have to take the oil somewhere to dispose of it. A lot less hastle.

And it was Pitstop... I didn't see any edit bar to fix the typo.

The problem is still you and not the Pitstop oil change. You failed to confirm that they did not have a military discount first! It is not a requirement to give discounts to people who served in the military, the same way it is not required to give discounts to elderly elderly people.

Next time ask if they give discounts for being retarded.

It wasn't as much the discount as it was there attitude about it.
My wife like myself if they had a discount but said it needed to be addressed prior, that is fine.We or at least my wife generally always asks. If yes great, if no ok.
Just to the point... Fine if you wish to change your own oil. IF saving the five or six buck and spending the time to find a place to dispose of your oil is worth it. Then do it yourself..For me its easier to take it some where. Heck Meinke, I believe does it for 20 dollars. Hard to buy oil and filter any cheaper than that.
Again it wasn't that they didn't give a discount, it was there attitude towards it.
I would have strongly warned an employee working for me coming out like that. IF it contined or happened again I would be looking for someone else. I wouldn't pass it off non challantly.

We don't expect it... But many places do offer a military discount, but you have to ask for it to get it... If they say no, she looks at it ok that fine and lets it go.

This was a case where it was more of the attitude of the person working at Pitstop than it was her.

We know that no one has to give a discount to those who have served thre country. But many places do. My guess is she thought the guys attitude was that of being nasty than that they didn't offer a discount. When he asked why she responded towards what those vets did in serving our country. I am sure some who have never served do not have a clue what so many have gone through in war, what so many have risked there lives for.. But I suspect the majority do.
