Why did House Republicans refuse to vote on the Violence Against Women Act?
There are 3 comments on the Charleston City Paper story from Jan 16, 2013, titled Why did House Republicans refuse to vote on the Violence Against Women Act?. In it, Charleston City Paper reports that:"Surely the men and women of the GOP understand that members of the LGBT community do not deserve to be beaten, raped, or stalked as long as they are here on this earth." At the end of November, the City Paper published an article I wrote about sexual assault allegations at the College of Charleston and how rampant rape is on college campuses ... (more)

There are enough laws on the subject without creating another one. This country is being strangled with new laws. Many of them are doing more harm than the good intended. Legislators need to give more thought to repercussions of a law before they pass it. And they need to assign people to weed out the bad ones they have passed. It will take a judge or lawyer to do the job right. Some of our laws are so involved that I doubt if there is more than a handful of senators and representatives that understand them, yet they vote on them.

VAWA -- the Violence Against Women Act -- is a pork bill. It sends billions in federal pork to state courthouses to finance corruption, abolish due process of law, and hire vicious haters, which is nothing less than organized crime. The taxpayers' hard-earned money is being misused to hire psychotic men-haters like Lisalyn Jacobs and Kathy Markley, and thousands more men-hating women peddling a sick agenda to persecute fathers, men, and anyone perceived to be an enemy of militant feminism.
These brave new laws appear to have no bounds, no limits in their quest to criminalize both the guilty AND the innocent, and with the dreaded TRO, denying men who are almost invariably the defendants notice and opportunity to be heard. As long as the defendants are men, and even before trial they are called "perpetrators" and "batterers."
Courts have already ruled that so much of VAWA is unconstitutional, violating the separation of powers, charging that the feds have usurped the jurisdiction of the states as preserved by the 10th Amendment, trashing the First Amendment's guarantee of freedom of speech and expression, and conflicting with laws that already exist to deter and prosecute domestic violence.
Besides the above sobering considerations, why is it that men are invariably smeared as villains and women as the victims, when the statistics show that men are domestic violence victims as often as women are, but a man will not go running to the courthouse when a woman throws a shoe at him, or cuffs him across the jaw. And one reason why those of us who are knowledgeable about VAWA is that we will immediately be stonewalled by the institutionalized misandry there.
Recent events such as the blood-curdling Jodi Arias murder case in Arizona and the Catherine Becker case in California where the woman cut off her husband's penis and chopped it up in the garbage disposal are warnings to men that they need to be alert and lock up the cutlery. They also need to alert themselves to the alarm bells of VAWA and its hundreds of ugly little inbred offspring in every town and county of the USA.
As I write this I am looking at a photo of sanctimonious Joe Biden in the left margin of my screen. He is the sire of this VAWA idiocy which has done so much damage to the constitutional rights of Americans.
And let me ask you something. When is the last time you heard of a case where a man sliced off a woman's sex organs?
"The more numerous the laws, the more corrupt the government."
