Was Mr. Warren, the EMS Director, cited when he recently wrecked his county issued vehicle into a civillian's vehicle, where he was initially charged with not using due regard, and later the charges were dropped beause the person he hit didn't go to the hearing??

An ambulance should never be stopped, even by police. They should either follow them to their destination, or contact the shift supervisor. Lights and sirens increase anxiety in patients, which increases the heart rate. This is especially dangerous in cardiac patients. The law says we should have the lights and sirens on when disobeying traffic laws, and we can't legally use the lights without the sirens. But on the ambulance we have to decide between following that law, or possibly making an already critical patient's condition even worse. If that patient were you, or a loved one which would you want us to choose?

Medic 0506 you are correct...What I would have done if it were me on that unit that was pulled over by the officer was when the unit came to a stop I would have gotten out and told that officer to sign my paper work because he just got him a patient..If he wants to be stupid enough to pull over and ambulance then he is gonna take the responsibility if that patient dies..I had one do that about 3 years ago to me...I got out when the unit came to a hault...Went to the troopers door..Opened the back door to his cruiser and told him that he just got him a patient to sign on the dotted line and I was turning care of to him for his ignorance...I had a stroke patient that was still in the golden 3 hours and could recieve the clot buster that he needed...Needless to say the dumb shit of a trooper told me to close the door and continue on and that he was sorry...
