Thinking about relocating to SC

If you plan on relocating, you are in for a shock. South Carolina is one of the most beautiful states in America. However it is filled with the most reactionary, knuckle dragging, neo-con, bible thumping, self-rightous prigs known to man. The idea of paying a living wage to someone would have the cheap S.O.B.s scraming like stuck pigs and crying that the liberals are all out to take thier money, causing the US to become communist or some other ignorant rant. Educationally, SC thanks Mississippi every night in thier reactionary prayers, because otherwise this state would be 50th in all the good things and first in all the bad.
\

Well, honeypot, since I'm not some liberal idiot who wants a nanny state telling me when I'm allowed to wipe my ass and taking 98% of my money to give it to someone who feels like sitting on THEIR ass instead of working, SC sounds like my kind of place. Thanks!

Honeypot cracks me up. I moved to SC from Mississippi after Katrina. South Carolina is a lot like south-central MS, but without the blues music or good BBQ. People are a bit more standoff-ish here too.

Not sure why you replied to me since I'm not relocating.
What exactly is a "living wage" and who decides what that is?
A "living wage" is a wage that is enough to pay rent in a livable house or apartment within a reasonable distance from work, transportation costs, utilities, food, reasonable entertainment, health insurance premium, into a fund for retirement after 30 years. It is enough to start, have a family and educate children. Who decides? Obviously not the knuckle dragging republican neo-cons that make thier home in South Carolina, they just want the plantation system to come back in full force. All decisions become a variation of capital dictating obediance by the serfs. That said, South Carolina is one of the most physically beautiful states in the US.

So, basically, you want to force employers at gun point into overpaying people for low skilled jobs. That old fascist "level the playing field" garbage.

Fascist minimum wage laws hurt everyone by causing low skilled workers to be fired and price increases for everyone else. Great plan you have there.

Clearly Bill you either haven't had economics or failed it. Living wages allow employees to buy the widgets produced. No purchases, no business.
And thanks for proving my point,'facist'? What are you three? You celarly have no idea what a 'facist' is, just what Rush, Hannity and the other Republican neo-cons have told you. it is thier idiotcy that has destroyed this State.
Again, If you need to work, don't come to South Carolina. if you come with money, great place to live. The idiots like Bill, Bobaloo and Carrie all cry about the Yankees coming to South Carolina, but bring a dollar and they'll sell you Grandma's farm in a heartbeat. Of course after the oxycotin is gone they'll calim you stole it from them.

You can have an IQ of Einstein, and still be an ignoramous.

I rather doubt your IQ is out of single digits when you accuse those of differing opinions from different areas as being "facists" though.

If you plan on wiping your ass when you get here, BYOTP. They haven't discovered TP in South Carolina yet. Although I hear Bill's tongue makes a good substitute, since he's already so full of shit.

Now this is funny. For some reason you think I support the likes of Rush or some other republican. They are no different than the fascists in the democratic party.
I know a great deal more about economics. I suggest you study the writing of a real economist, Ludwig von Mises.

I am a member of Mensa, so your little theory is wrong. You might learn to spell better before making judgment.

And yes, if you support stealing wealth from others then you are a fascist. I don't respect people's "different opinion" when their "opinion" wants to take rights away from me.

Your wages tend to follow what the living costs are in that area.
I remember being in the navy and leaving Charleston in 88 for Boston. Some of the sailors looked for part time jobs. I recall them laughing at getting a part time job at Burger king making like 6 or 7 dollars an hour at the time. They were saying I will flip burgers for that amount. I don't recall the exact dollar but it was a whole lot more than what you would get here in Charleston.
But then again you can look at what it would cost to rent an apartment up in Boston compared to down here. They have to pay a lot more up there because the cost is so much higher. I lived in Rhode Island and in california and I know the cost is high there too.
No doubt. If you are living in California which is also sky high. You come to Charleston or South Carolina the wages they pay for the same job won't compare. We will be way below. But it won't cost as much to rent and I am sure it all balances out.

Does some one put a gun to your head and force you to work for "coolie" wages?
the more cheap wages the employers get away with paying the more it drags everyone else down stupid. one of the only blue collar jobs in charleston worth having is working as a longshoremen. the other poster is right, we are overwelmed with illegal mexicans in this state willing to work for pennies on the dollar but it seems the state officials won't do anything about it. western union makes money from them because they send everything back to their country while they suck from the south carolina social welfare system.

Another example of government school "economics". You have been spoon fed myths all you life you take them as the truth.

If there was NO welfare at all (social, corporate, global) no one would even be talking about "illegal immigrants".

Bill's citations are just more proof of the idiots populating South Carolina: vonMies has been discredited amoung all but the most ideological. Next there'll be the world's cooling theory and no golbal warming from idustrial activity and the creationist myths...
Simple this remains a state generally populated by idiots. Belief in something is stronger than emperical proof, and capital trumps everything.
Like I said, this is a state desperate to re-instate the plantation system. Slavery optional.

The intellectually challenged always resort to childish insults when they have no facts to back up their "claims".

By the way, you are the only one advocating slavery here.

Anyone moving to SC should know that the knuckle draggers rule this beautiful state.

Billy, "facist"? Grow up, you're watching too much Hannity, Rush and Beck ... drag your knuckles along.

SC is a great place.
If you come to this state with money its fun to watch the knuckle draggers like Bill. They sell grandma's farm and after the oxycotin is gone, blame you for stealing it. This is a state desperately trying to re-establish the plantation system, slavery optional. The really funny part is not many of them actually have any real capital and they're nothing more than the hired overseers talking like they live in the big house.
