What is the policy on school bus drivers and the bus, they take them home with them, right? But why are they allowed to drive them to a second job? Looks like they should drive them home, get their own personal vehicles and drive them to their other job, aren't we as taxpayers paying for the fuel,I see a bus at walmart in the evening and also a bus at the nursing home certain days and the drivers are on another job, whats right with that? I mean its just not right!! Wonder how long and how many bus drivers are doing this? Maybe they need to drive their personal vehicles to the bus barn and pick up their bus,not drive it home and elsewhere after school.

Hell I saw a bus the other day in snuffyville!! Its just not right.. I aint got nothing better to do than to sit around and worry about where the hell these busses are!! What are these bus drivers thinking... going to McDonalds and Wal Mart. Next time we see one out, and it aint got kids on it, hauling them to and from school, we're gonna take a picture(with our pre paid verizon cell phone, which we purchased with our rapid refund) & send it to the S'ville News! While we are ROTFLOAO.

How about driving the buss to the deer hunting club south of atlanta and sleeping in it with your buddies. Thats just not right. The fuel cost doing that sort of thing has to be $75 or so for the one trip.

While I am certainly against abuse and waste of taxpayer funds, I have to tell you guys that all circumstances aren't always what they seem. First of all, there is not room for all of the county school buses to be parked inside the bus barn fence. Secondly, many of the drivers' routes are actually near their area of personal residence. For example, Lyerly and Menlo bus drivers lots of times live in Lyerly or Menlo. To be forced to drive the bus 4 times a day to and from the bus barn would actually cost us taxpayers more in fuel than to allow the drivers to park the bus at their residence.
And if a Sumerville driver lives inside the city limits, how much more is it actually costing us as taxpayers to have the bus driven to Snuffyville as it would to the bus barn?
As far as the McDonald's trip is concerned, when a bus is in need of repair, a test run is necessary to ensure that the problem has been corrected. Perhaps that was the situation that day. If you are driving through town anyway, realistically, how much extra does it cost to pull in McDonald's parking lot and pick up your lunch? As American's, we need to be just as concerned about our total energy consumption; not just when a school bus is involved.
Having said all of this, I have personally witnessed abuses of county vehicles. I have witnessed a county detective pull up after hours to a local ballfield in a county vehicle with his son in the front seat dressed in his Trion uniform for a little league baseball game. BTW, his son was playing. This to me is abuse of funds. We should not have to provide transportation for our local employees and their families to their extra-curricular activities. Once you get home in your tax payer provided vehicle, it should remain idle until you are on duty again.

I want a bus driver job, I can drive the bus to my 2nd shift job(saving my gas)and I won't have to worry about insurance either, perks are great in Chattooga County school system, I can drive to McDonalds and have lunch before picking the kids up at school, boy another way to save gas money, wait let me walk across the parking lot and buy my lottery tickets at Kangaroo before I get the kids. Guess when I leave my evening job I can stop by Wendys and get supper, driving the big yellow bus.
