People need to wake up and realize that this is a serious issue for this county... not a laughing matter at all. Someone has a father, son, brother, mother, daughter, sister or friend that has to go to this place to work every day because they have a family to support and they have no choice.

We need to be praying for this situation to get better and pray that the GDC will send in some help to get this situation under control. I pray daily for this situation and ask each of you to as well.

We do not need to treat this situation as a joke.

All of the people that have been killed were not violent offenders scumbag. The guards that have been injured are certainly not. The situation is not a joking matter.

I have heard nothing said bad about the guards !
And yes the prison is a joke. The u.s. government will not negotiate with terrorists but we will with inmates !!! When they started rewarding the inmates for acting good when we had "visitors" buying them pizza, kfc and other things they should've know what it would lead to...if you negotiate with people that should have no power ,all your doing is in powering them.. Now with the warden buying all the gang leaders lunch one day a week and asking what can he do to stop the violence , he's just in powering them more... lock it down 24/7 for about 6 years and see if that helps, or keep on letting the inmates run the prison until the feds finally take it over.

Please do not refer to the officers as guards, the correct term is Correctional Officer - they are POST certified and earn every bit of respect they receive. These men and women work very hard at being trained for this position. They spend weeks away from family & friends completing their training. They do more than just guard the prisoners - they run this facility to the best of their ability and with what available resources they have. Please give credit where credit is due.

I was a guard at hays for 13 years and yes we are guards. A month in forsyth with weekend off so you can go home does not mean weeks away ,unless you didn't want to drive home.. A officer has the ability to make decisions and theres no one to over ride there decision making. As guards We had to get everything approved before we did it and half the time our DR's where thrown out because the upper brass didn't won't to deal with it.. make no mistake !! We where controlled and not given the opportunity to handle any situations without asking first. We where and will always be guards.. It's not ment with any disrespect its just how it is...

Let me also add that its a tuff job I know this first hand , But the guards need respect from the convicts they guard ,Now that Warden Tatum is gone finally , I believe Mr Jacobs will return hays to where it was 8 years ago , and get the guards the respect they deserve

The staff at Hays have worked hours on end to resolve this problem to the best of their ability. They have risked their lives daily going in to do a job that MANY would be too afraid of to even walk through the door. Thank you HSP staff for your hard work and dedication and dignity. To the few staff that have "sold out" to the inmates....SHAME ON YOU! You took an oath of honor and you are putting your lives as well as the lives of others at risk every time you take money from these inmates. They don't care about you because they will turn on you in a New York minute. Warden Tatum did a good job. HSP is NOT your average prison. It takes the WHOLE TEAM working together and showing honor and respect for themselves as well as their superiors to get this job done. It takes alot of money to run these places and we all know that State government has no money to spend. With that being said we need to Pray for the staff, supervisors and legislators to have some Godly wisdom to turn this thing around. I pray blessings on each staff member and their families. Praying for Mr. Jacobs as he has quite a job ahead of him but I am confident he along with his staff will get the job done.
