Its funny, you go in and there is noone waiting in the waiting room. It still takes them 40 minutes to get you back there, then another 45 minutes for a doc to first come in to begin a test. Its absolutely the worst waiting hospital i have ever been to. I have lived in 3 states and 4 different areas of this state and i am amazed people stand for this, especially from a city owned hospital.

This place needs improving, dont get me wrong im glad we have what we have but that dosent make it ok to run the place into the ground and treat people poorly. The place has been ran like this for years and its not a day that goes by that someone has complained about the way they have been treated up diagnosed up there. I understand there are a bunch of druggies, worthless pieces of trash, and others that complain about everything but after 20 years of hearing it day in day out guess what it may just be you SRMC that needs to pick it up a notch!

Have a little pride for a change and staff the freakin place properly. If noone is in the waiting room and the ER is empty get someone in right away dont make them sit in pain for half an hour!

Did you ever take a math class? You say at the end you had to sit in pain for half an hour. That is 30 minutes. However, you started out by saying that you have to wait in the waiting room 45 minutes then another 45 minutes to see a doctor. That is 1 and 1/2 hours. You contradict yourself in a short posting.

Have you ever been sitting in the waiting room and seen the ambulances that come to the back door? Those people don't usually come to the waiting room so even if you don't see other people waiting, there still could be other patients.

Or here is another thought, there are lots of rooms back there, so even if there are not people in the waiting room, there could be other people there who are also waiting to see the doctor.

Just some things to think about while you wait next time.

Here's another thought to ponder while waiting. Would you rather wait and get the CORRECT diagnosis or get hurried through only to have to return because you're still sick??
Of course for a drug seeker the wait would probably seem long indeed.
Be careful what you wish for because you're getting care from people who actually give a crap about you. You're not just a number.

I have worked there I know what goes on behind the scenes. You all are so funny. It is the flirting and the other stuff that goes on that takes them so long to get to the patients. On one occasion a couple of them were caught in the linen closet and also out in the parking lot. So it you think it don't go on. Your nutter that they are.

I have been treated in the ER and so have my children and husband at one time or another. I can honestly say that most recently I have noticed a big improvement over the years past. Yes my bill is higher also, but nothing compared to the ER at CAMC or WVU. SRMC is cleaner, and a lot of nice people work there. It may seem like you are waiting a long time, but have any of you ever been to CAMC General and had to wait in their ER? It is dirty, busy, and a VERY lengthy wait as well. We need to appreciate what we do have available to us. If the dopeheads would stop trying to use the place as a "fix" and people would get a primary care/family doctor, the ER could be utilized for what it was meant for. EMERGENCIES!

The wait time is longer than should be but the staff seem knowledgeable and they are friendly. & detailed. Thankfully we have an ER close by.

Doctor Conley's office clearly will tell you..Dr. Conley can't see you for ????weeks..if you can't wait go to the ER...If we had the ability to see our primary physicians maybe the ER wouldn't be so congested. Dr. Fleer is the BEST doctor around...it will be a sad day when he is gone. He is slow, but that's because he goes thru everything with a fine tooth comb...if you see him and he tells you, you are ok...you ARE ok.

I think its pretty sad that when people who actually go to the er with an injury causing pain, they treat you like a druggie and tell you to go home and take tylenol or motrin. Its messed up that they deny even injured patients pain medication. Or if they do give you pain meds, it will be something extremely weak. If you present in the er with a broken leg, you are obviously in pain and are going to need some decent pain meds to keep your comfertable. Its just sad that somehow, the biggest pill heads in the county can go to the dr and leave with scripts of pain meds fit for a dying cancer patient, track marks and all, and other people who don't do drugs get hurt, and get sent home to take motrin. Wth?

sounds like you need fix...they don't hand out pills like they are candy and they shouldn't Put on you big ppl pants and tuff a little bit of it out. If you hadn't already used too much pain medication, 2 tylenol will get just about anything. I broke a rib..hurt like the devil..had one shot of toradol...had my babies with NOTHING.

dr fleer is an awesome doc as are all of the docs and pa's in the er and nurses!!!![/QUOTE]
right on! i worked there for almost 3 years and i agree 100%. docs and pa's are good, but the nurses dont get the praise and appreciation they deserve. anyone that complains about an emergency room are more than likely on welfare. bottom line, if you're sick and its an actual EMERGENCY, youre in no condition to complain. like people that rate their pain as worst ever. if you are in that much pain, youre gonna be doubled over and barely able to speak, let alone complain! 99.9% of the people who bitch and moan about emergency room service are on welfare anyway

they do that because there's a program called national pharmacy board where they can go back for months and even years and it tells what the patient has got filled, where, when, how many, and the doc that prescribed it. so if they tell you take over the counter stuff or give you something weak, its because they see that youve had no problem in the past getting pain medicine. and i agree!!!! someone who abuses pain meds dont deserve it. i dont care if their back is broke in half. these are smart, experienced, and well educated people and they know what they are doing. you may fool them once, but not twice!

Yeah, some people tend to make a mountain out of a mole hill just to make it sound better and more juicy. And, by the time the story gets around, it's blown way out of proportion. And of course, done to ruin someone's name that they have a "beef" against!
