my dad went to northside chrystler to get the oil changed in his dodge.they did like a 21 point inspection and told him he needed front brakes before the car would pass inspection.instead of haveing them do it,witch of course they were hopeing he would tell them just to go ahead and do it,he went and bought the pads and i put them on for him,the one side i started on had at least half of the pad still there, pulled off the other side and they where the same way!!!his car DID NOT even come close to needing a brake job done on it.SCAM????? he has the paper saying it needeed front brakes,he keept the ones i took off.therefore how many ppl would them tell them "just go ahead and do it".to me me this is wrong and a ripp-off!!so if they tell you,you need anything done i would check it out before just telling them to do it!!!!!!!

Why did you put new pads and shoes on the vehicle if it did not need them? There are other way you could have proven your point, but you proved their point by replacing the pads and shoes! You should have returned the ones you purchased back to the place you bought them, and taken the used ones back to the Dodge dealer and showed them to the Manager.

It wouldn't surprise me that Northside, or any other "stealership" would try to perform work that wasn't immediately needed in order to make a few bucks.

With profit margins on new cars shrinking, dealerships have been relying more and more on their service departments to bring in the cash.

Like you said, there are probably a lot of folks, especially women and seniors, who would let them go ahead and do it because they'd take the service department at their word.

When people shop for a car, they should shop for a dealership as well. A quick call or visit to the service department should be part of the buying process to get a feel for the place. After all, you'd hate to get a car that you actually like only to find out that you're going to be screwed on the back end.

Anyway, there's probably nothing legally wrong here. But by spreading the word you can give potential Northside customers something to be leery of. Perhaps some will even shop somewhere else.

i didnt put them on to prove a point, when i saw the one side didnt need it i figured they had checked the other side, one side can ware more then the other,so i put the new ones on and since i had put the new ones on that one side i went ahead and put them on both anyway,so now you can see it wasnt about proving a point and why i rote it was to WARN ppl.

to umm.looks like you must work there,so you would like your parents to go there and get ripped off when they are on a fixed income and with the high coat of meds thats a big chunck out of their checks so NORTHSIDE gets your approval on ripping off seniors, what does that say about you???

they put a rejection sticker on my car saying it needed tires and that they had them in stock. took it to c adam toneys and they could not believe it said they didnt usually put a sticker on after the car had a rejection but they would now. That people is why they say you get free mvi stickers if you buy from them so they can rip you off!! I hate that place and wish I would have never bought my vehicle there.

Its so true- They tried to rip off my mom and told her she needed all kinds of things and this and that was leaking and had cracks. They would have to keep the car for three days and it would be over 2000.00 bucks. So I asked them to show me all the problems and after 5 people pointing fingers at other people- no one could show me any of the problems listed. My mom was going to just let them keep the car and pay 2000 because she does not know anything about the cars. She was going to because she TRUSTED them, but I said no and 5 years later the car is still running great. I dont get it! I think they do it to older people too. Its not right.

So, Rodney, what happened when you took all your evidence and went back to Northside and confronted them?

Good info, I was thinking of possibly looking there for a vehicle. Seems like I should reconsider.

Always check your air filters prior to going!! I came out of there with a black, engine oil covered air filter (and my car only had 7,000 miles) and was told to pay $30.00 for the Mopar filter. NO THANKS! Replaced it with a $10.00 Frame and 18,000 miles later, my air filter is clean with NO engine oil!! Ugh....

I wouldn't buy a dam thing from those crooks. Go to mid state ford in summersville. Bought a Tahoe from the Chevy dealership in sutton and they service it at the ford dealer so I don't drive to sutton. They will come and pick your car up service it then bring it back.

Folks, if you want to buy a GM product from an honest dealship, go to Brown Chevrolet in Montgomery. It is owned by three Musick brothers. I've know all three since they were small boys and I have never seen a dishonest thing from them in my life. Their prices are good and the service great.
Tell the manager, you were sent there by their former neighbor from Gauley Bridge.
I know it's 40 miles away but the drive is well worth it.

The service managers make the mechanics tell the customers that things are wrong with their vehicles and that parts need to be replaced in order to increase business and profits for their business. Also the mechanics get a commission for the parts that are sold.

You think Flatwoods is something..... take a look at what they are doing in Beckley! They have already started the construction on the dealership building. I bet there's millions of dollars invested into that new dealership!
