Anyone know who it is? Guess good ol SVFD will be charging $500 to someone that just lost there home again, wonder if they will split it with the other depts that helped, I seriously doubt it they have said it in the past to other fire dept but never follow through with it, just shows how greedy they are, but they got to pay for the big ol ladder 21 somehow. So ditry and greedy, but it will catch up with them sooner or later.

First off, SVFD is a volunteer service. Those men and women are going out at all hours of the day (and night) to risk their lives to save your house. Yes, it is a huge burden to have to pay $500 to the fire department when you just lost everything you own but they were there.. attempting to help SAVE everything you own. If you don't want to pay the $500, if your house catches on fire, just sit and watch it burn. If you're going to hate on the men and women who are risking their lives for YOU then don't call them. SVFD does what they can. It costs money to run those huge trucks and it costs money to put water into the tanker. The hoses, bunker gear, gas in the trucks, new tires... It ALL costs money.

Just remember.. they dont HAVE to be there. There's not mandated to come. They're VOLUNTEERS. Be THANKFUL for what they're doing. Risking their lives for a stranger, each and every day.

I think its horrible SVFD charges $500.00 to house fire victims. Sure it costs money to run the trucks, Im not sure where you get it costs money to fill them with water. Don't SVFD get enough money from the City County and the State to cover these charges?

I have been a firefighter for wilderness for over ten years, and we never charged a dime to anyone for any reason, and we operate on a fraction of of what summersville does.
I wonder

I have two questions for summersville fire dep.

Do you still charge if they paid the fire fee?
Did the dep ever reimburse the people that paid the fee but lives outside of your run area?
