The Air Force One is a 747-200B modifed for the President and his staff. The Green Brier Airfield is capable of landing the 747-200B, being it has the longest runway of any air field in WV.

Just because it boast being the longest runway in WV doesnt mean it is adequate for a 747. A 747 would never attempt to land at Greenbriar unless it was an emergency.

It has happened before, and it could happen again. Just because large jets do not regularly land there does not mean that the airstrip could not accommodate them. The interstate highway system was designed to provide an area to land jets and various other aircraft every few miles in case of emergency situations.

Yes Air Force One has landed in Lewisburg on several occasions. President Clinton, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. have stayed at the Greenbrier. Actually, the Greenbrier was very popular to the Ronald Reagan administration. I have not heard of a recent landing though.

I began this thread for one reason, and one reason only. To show people that just because it's what you "think", it's not necessarily true. This is how rumors get started, and people think they "know it all" and don't know anything at all.
I e-mailed another user to tell them of this as to have a witness so people wouldn't say this wasn't my intent. This user also knew that the below is true.
Truth is: Air Force One lands at Lewisburg airport on a regular basis. They do training and "touch downs" at the airport. This accurs about every month or two. It has went on for years. This is a FACT.
So all you that "know" what you're talking about, maybe you ought to do research before you show how ignorant you are by posting your opinions and try to present them as truths. Just because you think it sounds like it's true, doesn't mean it's true.
For those of you that posted due to your knowledge of this particular subject, I'm not talking to you. Only to the people who get on topix with no direct knowledge of a subject and start their rumors and untruths for the purpose of spreading hate and discontent.

Why dont you post some evidence of your so called "fact". I havent seen anywhere stating a 747 has ever landed in Lewisburg. Yes, "Air Force One" has landed there on occasion but in a smaller 757. When someone says they "think", obviously they are not stating it as fact, or they would say they "know". If you want to prove conclusively it is a fact common sense would suggest posting a credible link with the so called "fact". I think you are an uneducated sexually repressed dork with nothing better to do than attempt to make yourself appear intelligent. I know you are an annoying douchebag with way to much time on your hands. See the difference?

Listen hear! I served in the military for years, and I had the pleasure of providing security for two former administration's including their arrivals in Lewisburg. If you would like to see actual proof then by all means visit the Greenbrier, or better yet visit the airport. There are several pictures hanging in the lobby next to Jerry's office.

Yeah, but Chuck........there's some idiots on here who only want to believe rumors. Then, when someone points out how stupid those people are for commenting on things they have no clue about then they want to accuse you of being exactly what they are.
I pity the idiots, but these folks will NEVER do their own research, they just want to appear they know something when they really don't.
BTW, thank you for your service.
