hi home town people, my husband and i came home after two tours , this may not be the right place to ask , but after calling a few county commissioners, who by the way, COULD NOT tell us who the library board members were, we decide to ask here, why in the world is there four (4) young people working or lingering on the counter each day, every day, with no one inside utilizing the public library, is it because there is little to NO new books being brought in?????? or is it because the e books are few and far between ??????? and each new e book has a 5 to 20 person waiting list.....??? what in the world is wrong with this picture....???? and i have been a patron for 11 months now and ihave never seen the head of library ????? WHERES THE BOOKS???? can someone plese assure us all that these people ARE NOT being paid.????? no surly not?????? no way they are RIGHT????? we as a community could never let that happen COULD WE????

Maybe you should spend some more time reading up. You can't even spell the town's name right. For future reference, it's Summersville.

For someone who supposedly has three degrees you need to work on your spelling, grammar and punctuation. Edit and re-submit please.

Well, it is a small town.
I know they have student workers there to explain all the young people.
Also, isn't the director on maternity leave?

I don't have 3 degrees but I know enough not to "stir the pot" without knowing all the facts.

The library staff is friendly enough, i'm sure they would have answered your questions if you thought to ask them first instead of coming to a gossip site for it.

Hey Army Wife..Are one of those three degrees in grammar and spelling? It is pretty evident that you are just wanting to start a pathetic, woe is me thread. Why don't you ask who the leaders from the library commission of WV. But with THREE degrees, I am certain that you did that long ago. ANd very frankly, I don't give a big rat's a$$ how many degrees you have, you are a role model for all grammatically challenged morons.

You have three degrees and don't know how to google "Summersville WV public library"? Wow. So to help you out,

Now as for our library, I think ours in wonderful for being located in a small town. In addition to a good selection of books, it is a beautiful building.

The young people that work there are very knowledgeable if you would give them a chance. They know how to help with Kindle/Nook questions. They have good suggestions for books and authors if you tell them what you like.

Why are there so many people on the ebook waiting lists? Oh could it be because there is a budget and they do the best they can with what have?! I am quite sure there is not a library in America that can afford a copy of each ebook that each patron wants.

@ army wife, I don't think summersville library is that bad. I am a soldier and I have to been to many libraries on post that suck a lot worse than summersville. Summersville library is a great place to go to sit down with a book and relax. If they don't have a book you can usually request it and they will get it for your. As far as the e books, lots of libraries across the country have limited e books. Maybe you should try volunteering there if you would like to make it a better place. good luck

As a patron of Summersville library for the last ten years I know that the library staff has always been extremely helpful and friendly. They helped my daughter find books and new authors as she is growing up. When my husband was recuperating from injuries sustained after his second tour in Iraq the staff at Summersville library ordered books after he requested them. When or Nana's vision deteriorated sheer was able to access the large print section.
To the author of this post... The library is located in a small community and not a large city. In case you are unaware or country is setting cutbacks everywhere.
I want to thank your husband for his service and yours as a family member. I have been there and now how difficult the transition can be. As to the student's you mentioned... Unless things have changed they are there as student workers from the college and not paid by the library. Considering you said you just got home might I suggest you get the facts before you start making assumptions about things that you don't know.
Also there is a website for the library so I think you could find the information you are seeking there instead of getting in a blog and having a tantrum

To all concerned, the Summersville Public Library is a first-class facility. The librarian has a Master's Degree in Library Science from Pittsburg. She could make better money with her qualifications at a college library, but she has chosen to raise her family in Summersville. Our community is lucky to have this beautiful building with a librarian that is devoted to organizing activities for the children like the Polar Express pajama parties. The library budget has significantly dwindled since the College separated from Glenville State College. They used to donate around $50,000 to the library each year. New River does provide the library with student workers. From your description, these workers may need better supervision. I am very proud of the Summersville Public Library. Thank everyone for using this fine facility.
