Yeah, elaborate on this a little please. I know you don't want to be drinking while operating a boat. That will get you a D.U.I. if you don't hurt or kill someone first and you can't take alcohol out to the beach area. That's about all i know of.

Beer does not dictate whether or not a place is family oriented. Ever seen all the FAMILIES that go to nascar races? The thing that would not make it a family oriented place is if only boy friends and girlfriends attended. Or if enemies met up there, or maybe even if just complete strangers only went there. But Beer????? How do you figure?

When my FAMILY gets together with other members of the family, we have kool -aid, soda-pop, bottled water and BEER. Its the most family oriented thing we do . So please do explain....

You dumb redneck always have to be drinking a beer. Grow up drinking is for young adults. I have been to a nascar race a bunch of dumb rednecks drinking beer and acting like dumbasses.

Drinking is for people who can keep a hold on their emotions and actions. If you become an out of control, fight causing, drama starting drunk then you shouldn't drink. However, if you can hangout and be a civilized person then I don't see why you couldn't drink regardless of your age (21 or 80!)

I agree with the man who posted before. You can have a family outing and also have beer avaiable for the ADULTS to drink. As long as you aren't getting sloppy drunk, falling all over the place or getting into fights I don't see the problem. Having a beer or two never made anyone into a "dumbass redneck".

Obviously you don't need beer to be a dumb redneck.
The word family means young adults, old adults , and kids. The adults drink the beer and other beverages and enjoy each others company while the kids drink the soda, kool aid and water. Wanna take another stab at it?
You obviously also haven't witnessed the entire crowd at a race. Some are a little overboard but many don't at all.

You truly are an idiot!! Alcohol and families DON"T mix well. Iam GLADDDDDDDDD beyond words that people can't drink at the lake. If they want to drink, do it at home or at a bar where they don't expose the rest of us to the possible BS that goes along with SOME that over indulge. Now I'm not going to argue this out with you...you are a pig headed idiot. KNOW it all KNOW nothing...Nobody in their right mind wants somone that has been drinking around their children, in the water, out of the water, in a car, or operating a boat. Drinkers have designated places to go, for example the tractor bar, Mischelle's ect. Let them drink there. I am a smoker, I am only allowed to smoke in certain places. There isn't a place hardly anywhere you can pay for a meal and have a cigarette afterward, the reason is because of the POSSSIBLE harm to others. There is potential of harm to kids (and others) when drinkers get involved. I don't know why I am doing all the this, the Decision has been made. Hats off to the person(s) that made it!!!!!!!!!

You and the doc need to combine your family outings. Have them somewhere PRIVATE don't expose the rest of us. How do the stupid drunks and the smart drunks get determined BEFORE there is an incident???? The stupid drunk has to start a fight, urinate on the swingset, pass out on the playground, OR worse kill somebody with a boat or a car. But then it's too darn late. Damage is already done. Hence the SMART people made the decision to eliminate the POSSIBILITY......derrrr...if it hasn't been an issue already there wouldn't be a change.

DRINKING doesn't cause problems unless you get out of hand with it. And not everyone who decides to have themselves a cold beer out at the lake continues on until they are drunk and out of hand. Its called responsible drinking and many, many people do it. No decisions have been made on anything. The only thing thats happened is someone made a statement at the begining of this topic.

Nothing has changed at the lake. Just called them and they didn't know what i was talking about. This topic is mute and useless. You can still drink in your boat as long as your not driving. You can still have a beer at your campsite just as always. They would lose practically all their business if ever such a law was enacted and we know they don't want that. I go there every year and only on OCCASION do you ever see someone out of hand by drinking and when they do get that way they are usually dealt with immediately. Whoever started this idotic topic must be getting their info from a different lake somewhere or just don't have a clue what they are talking about. Now i can see them making it a law to ban people who choose to walk down to the lake and go swimming while carrying coolers full of beer with them. Thats just asking for trouble but thats about it.Thats probably what this topic is actually about.

They banned jumping off rocks and didn't tell us about it until it happenned. What's to keep them from banning alcohol?

You should never let children be around alchohol it makes them think it is acceptable behavior. Try taking your children to high school sporting events that are alchohol free. You may even think outside the crazy box and travel to a zoo or a museum. Children who grow up around alchohol are more likely to drink.

The corp of engineers is considering banning alcohol, but they have not yet made a decision as of about 2 p.m. this afternoon. There are people who know how to drink alcohol responsibly and I don't feel that they should be punished just because some can't act responsibly. Should we ban all cars because some people can't or won't drive responsibly?
