How much does it cost the county to keep the Day report center open?

I think the criminals have to pay so much a day there, that's what I heard, may not be true, and work. One guy told them to just put him in jail, because he wasn't paying anymore money to them lol

It's a positive to have in the community. It saves the county money by not putting as many people in jail. I have seen some people come through the program & gain direction & responsibility. That's not going to happen with everybody no matter what kind of program you put them in.

The question is how much does it cost the county to keep the Day report center open? The county also saves money by placing cons on home confinement. If the cons are receiving counseling they could meet at the counselors office. i can't see paying utilities on that big building and paying three salaries for the workers.

What does it matter how much it costs? Everybody wins, the county wins by saving on jail costs, the people win by not being in jail, and the citizens win when they clean up the neighborhoods. Im sure whatever the cost, it's quite a bit cheaper then paying jail fees. Shoot like it was said before, they might actually learn some responsibilities.

I think it is also meant to make them get out of bed and off their ass and learn what it is like to have a real job. I think they are letting too many people not serve jail time though. Sometimes regardless of cost these people need jail to teach them a lesson. The same people keep getting arrested over and over and they are right back out to do it again. Not a week in jail either. A year in jail and they might think twice and gives them plenty of time to get clean and used to being clean.

Everybody says the jails are over crowded but if they would do more than slap people on the wrist and make them spend maximum sentences people would maybe think twice before getting into trouble. Right now there's now fear of the law or justice system, it looks like it pays to be a criminal!

I haven't got the numbers yet but the county commission filters the money through Fayette County this hides there salaries. This way they dodge the wage review board which governs the rest of the court house. I am sure they make more than the other employees and Deputies.

im sure alot of people would rather have home confinement than go there at least on home confinement the time you spend counts towards your sentence day report doesnt count toward anything i heard there was a person who spent a year at day report and went to court only to get sentenced to jail if they would have stayed in jail that entire time they would have already been up for parole but now theyre just starting theyre sentence

Roger Beverage is quick to tell the public how many millions of dollars the day reporting center has saved Nicholas County. But he doesn't give a complete breakdown of how the it has saved Nicholas County.

They were having prisoner picked up the trash alongside the road and doing repairs on the Courthouse before the Day Reporting Center, That is noting new. do you really believe that they are teaching those people anything? If you do, you are very gullible. I pass by there every day and they are standing around smoking and washing cars or you can see them inside just sitting around. It all a big farce put on by Roger Beverage to make himself look good. Let him put a detailed accounting of the funds that the days reporting center has saved versus having the prisoner in jail.

Roger Beverage had to resigned for him position of Chief Probation officer to run for Sheriff. Isn't is odd, that they haven't filled the position of Chief Probation Officer. Let's see how long they keep it vacant.

of course our good judge will hold the position until after the election. If Roger Beverage loses he will take his old job back, probably get a raise to boot.

I know Tom B and Roger B. There are worse people around here. Sometimes it's better to have a devil you know than a devil you don't know. NOTICE; I don't say I support either of them.
Whatever you do, please check the facts and not go on gossip, especially from Topix.

the day reporting center is a joke. this county is paying money out for it. you have gary jarrell running it down there and he is an idiot. the only other job he had was working at go-mart. thus this county needs to vote people in here with expirence. i understand that this isnt an elected position but if we get people in here that know what they are doing and have a grasp of what they are doing stuff like this wont happen. dont vote for john collins. i see sheriff dept. trucks down there and i know of other counties where the sheriff's dept. is in control of the day reporting centers. you will have somebody like randy tucker down there. you need a deputy to run it if it would go in control of the sheriff. this county is at hell now so please people. change it by voting. dont vote people with no expirence in there without checking them out. we need expirence in all of our public office.

The people complaining are probably people who failed at the DRC or Beverage's political opponents. The DRC is a great asset to the county!

Was just reading the Chronicle and was amazed to find out that cleaning ramps is considered "punishment" for crimes committed!! I had seen these peoples mugshots on the WVRJA site awhile back and now their pics are in the paper for getting ready for a ramp feed!

No one can fail at the DRC. They let you get drunk and break into people's property. Anyone that can read a newspaper knows what is going on at the DRC. It doesn't have to be a political opponent, just an opponent of a failed system that wasn't and still not being run properly.
